Rejoice, all ye who are weary of the long desert of mediocrity, for The Gathering will give you rest. Need I even say this song is a masterpiece?

I'm not going to use terms like "watered down" or "compromised" with the new Illuminati record, but all of the erratic, chaotic energy from FREE I.H. has been swapped out in favour of slow, indistinguishable indie ballads, so I am going to use terms like "sad" and "disappointed."

When it comes to sampling infused IDM records, I'm definitely more of an Endtroducing guy. Untrue feels a lot more singular and isolating compared to DJ Shadow's classic; perhaps more mechanical as well. A machine trying to imitate human emotion yet feeling all the more uncanny for doing so.

For me, music has always been about transportation. What I mean by that is, music ignites my imagination in ways nothing else does and my all-time favourites (Lambchop, The Weakerthans, Laura Stevenson, Iona, etc) become a world unto themselves. This is going to sound harsh and it is. I'm struggling to come up with a reason for why Coldplay should continue existing as a band. An established, iconic band of fully grown adults should not be writing music this juvenile, forced, and nonsensical. The record's one good pop song opens thing up only for it to spiral into a series of cliches that become increasingly shallow and musically valueless.

Coldplay has always been....forthright with their emotions and choice of words (hello "Fix ... read more

This record is locked in such a specific period of time that listening to it today feels like opening the crackling pages of an old photo album. While The Fray would quickly go on to worsen what was already a corny sound, HTSAL's depressive tones are somehow effective in melancholic hindsight.

J.N. for life... No other artist even approaches her, for me. Perfect in every way. "Dream of the origin", indeed. Joanna—you *have* taken my heart alive!

As I am planning on making a list from AOTY users, I would like to ask this question: What is an album that you and your parents like? Please elaborate if you'd like :)
