kurtains was freaked out on "UNCA / Composure" where the hell did that come from
This was probably one of my most anticipated projects in recent memory as I've listened to both glaive and kurtains for around 5 years and they've both consistently been some of my favorite artists in this scene. When "The Troubles" dropped I was expecting this to be a hyperpop club album, and I felt like those expectations were confirmed when I saw that "The Band" and ... read more
it’s good but a bit repetitive. still really excited for terrified tho
If underscores’ drop last week was a rebirth of recession pop, WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA is the other side of the coin. Filled to the brim with club bangers, Slayyyter meshes electroclash, hyperpop, and industrial dance music seamlessly on her new LP and leaves us with a project that makes you want to sweat on the dancefloor.
This is an album that is unapologetically open about Slayyyter’s desires. She sings about drugs, sex, clubbing, and above all of that, love. She knows what she ... read more
"the gay homie said you n****s is buns" is probably going to be bar of the year
Baby Keem is back after a long hiatus, and it feels like he never left. He branches out a lot in this album, but it doesn't feel messy. Lots of really fun songs, along with some amazing vulnerable cuts like "I am not a Lyricist" and "No Blame". Baby Keem was able to mature and evolve without abandoning the playful rambucnctioness that he started with.

recession pop is back in a big way
Underscores takes a step back from the deep world-building and heavy topics of her previous album, "Wallsocket", and gives us a short and sweet pop album to dance to. These songs are so fun, and April chose the perfect time to drop with the sun finally coming out. Can't wait to listen to this while getting a tan in a sundress.
I will say though, the album feels short, and the lack of features is disappointing. She does a good job of making ... read more
this album makes me feel so small and european
Bassvictim leans even heavier into their folk sound with this new project. The elctroclash influences are still there, but in no way is this an electroclash album. I mean there’s a bagpipe solo in one of the songs, but it still feels true to their artistic vision. If their “basspunk” albums are the club, “?” is the crying in your bed after.
Maria’s vocals definitely stand out on this project. They feel more ... read more
definitely a huge step up from bad ass fucking kid
while i still prefer nettspend's jerk songs over his rage, the past year and a half has granted him the ability to rap on beat and have a bag of multiple flows, which makes these songs much more bearable. i actually found myself enjoying a solid number of tracks, and while i don't think he did anything outstanding on this album, he's definitely proved himself to be more than just a lolcow.

While just a teaser EP for his future album, I still walked away from "The Boy who cried Terrified ." slightly disappointed. I wasn't sure what to expect given his recent singles. Was he going to stick with the electroclash sounds that blew him up on tiktok (Easter Pink, MAKKA, Fever), would he go back to the grimey, sample-heavy, cloud rap of London's Saviour, or would he continue experimenting with the rage/jerk beats that he ... read more
I was actually kind of excited for how this would turn out, but Yeat's verse just feels so shoehorned in that it's not worth it. Like it actually feels like a fan took an existing Yeat verse and edited it into the original song.
It’s like if Mk.gee and Dijon had a baby who made indietronica country.
Derby combines his catchy southern drawl with groovy bass and high pitched, low mixed vocals that make you feel like you’re listening through an old radio and convey a sense of nostalgia for a place I’ll never know.
While not very original, Slugger is still a pretty fun album with its share of emotional moments at the end. I’m excited to see what Derby will do in the future.

aldn finally releases his debut album after a number of mixed EPs. I've been listening to him since before he dropped greenhouse and stayed every step of the way. His evolution has been interesting to say the least, and I was very excited for this album, especially after that initial release of "icantbelieveiletyougetaway". Like the EPs before this, once again this album is a bit of a mixed bag but ... read more

God this album is so groovy. I liked 3D Country slightly better just because I'm more biased towards their more energetic songs but I still had a great time listening to this album. You can definitely see how Cameron Winter's solo work has affected the creative process for this album, especially with the lyrics.
Speaking of Cameron Winter, by god do his vocals continue to stun on this album. His voice is so infectious and I love pretending I ... read more

“Y’all” sees glaive reaching for inspiration from his old hyperpop sound, and the result is more polished, catchy, and lacking in the immaturity that comes from being 15 years old. Despite this, he doesn’t abandon the indie folk sound that he was experimenting with in his debut album “i care so much that i don’t care at all” and his ep “a bit of a mad one”, and while that does lead to ... read more
just realized i never reviewed this here. whoops
anyway, not much i can say that hasn't been said before. this project is way too bloated and swamp izzo doesn't need to be saying all that. there's a good amount of stand out songs here but they're drowned in an ocean of repetitive mid. if you're gonna make a rage album that's over an hour long you gotta make it interesting and this album is not.

A really groovy release from chase. Victor Internet has some really soothing vocals on the chorus and the guitar is amazing as always. I like it a lot more than the previous single, Hot Wheels.
