RAYE - THIS MUSIC MAY CONTAIN HOPE.
100

I came into this album with expectations that it can be a album of the year contender. Came out of it very confident that it is the album of the year. It's not even half way through the year but this is perfect. You're listening to a musical about breakup, self love, love, relationships. It's so consistent. Each individual song off the album is great alone too. Just nothing to complain about.

Mitski - Nothing's About to Happen to Me
80

Very beautiful and sad album, very strong vocal performances and writing. I'll disagree with some people that rate it poorly for being boring, i think the slower production tracks were actually the best. I didn't connect with songs that are more rock like "where is my phone?" But I'll give it the benefit or the doubt on further listens.

Fave tracks: If I leave, dead women, I'll change for you

A$AP Rocky - Don't Be Dumb
70

It's good for a one time listen just doesn't have as much replay value to me. For such a long hiatus and so much personal growth over the years with things like his relationship with Rihanna it doesn't really reflect it in the music. The writing feels very shallow conisdering how much A$AP Rocky could talk about ove the past couple of years.

Bruno Mars - The Romantic
60

It's a Bruno Mars album. He always returns to the same formula of hits that he has been doing for nearly a decade. It feels weaker this time around just generic. A shame because Bruno Mars was on a generational ruun of singles and duos recently and just a lackluster album with none of those hits is a bit of a shame

BLACKPINK - DEADLINE
20

To think that Jump would be a highlight of the album. When I first heard it I thought it was a mediocre song with the most interesting part being the beatdrop at the end of the song. The lyrics are corny and cringe on this, the actual singing doesn't really match many of these songs. Some of the mixing is just awful like on champion where the chorus compared to the verses are just so drastically different to one another in a bad way. Just yeah some of the worst kpop I heard

Baby Keem - Ca$ino
70

I mean this in a sincere way, I think Baby keem needs to try one time really stepping away from a similar to Kendrick sound. Like yes he sounds good but he will always be compared to Kendrick and frankly no one in the world can match Kendrick on similar production styles as him. It's alright it sounds good but I won't be revisiting the album except for Dramatic Girl which is a great song.

Joji - Piss In The Wind
30

very dissapointing album. It just doesn't sound finished. It's creatively bankrupt. Majority of the album is under 2 minutes. It just doesn't even allow for a song to really have longevity or have any depth. It feels incomplete and just a bunch of interlude tracks. Some of the longer track songs don't feel like they even match up well with the vocals joji goes for, like Sojourn, DYKILY. It leaves those tracks that are long enough to be full songs just ending up being ... read more

KiiiKiii - Delulu Pack
68

Has the kpop song of the year so far with 404 (new era). Pretty consistent sound and just great sounding kpop music.

Fave Tracks:
404 (new era), delulu, Underdogs

Least fave:
To me from me

hemlocke springs - the apple tree under the sea
90

This album is a synth pop masterclass, it's so good and she really combines familiar sounds and inspirations of 2000s pop with a unique sound. She has such a unique voice that finally clicked with me on this record.

Fave tracks:
W-w-w-w, Be the girl!, Moses

XG - THE CORE - 核
65

I think this incredible with some songs of the year on it. While the sound is inconsistent the average is a good to great song.

Fave tracks:
Gala, Hypnotize, No good

Least fave:
O.R.B, 4 seasons

WILLOW - petal rock black
70

I think this is such a great sound for her and Willow's voice can shine. But I feel like with many of Willow's ventures into different genres she doesn't fully commit to the sound. When she does commit to a full song like play, not a fantasy and eat the cocoon it's incredible but unfortunately those are the highlights of the album. A shame because an album about self love and self expression, there just is a lot of songs that are short and don't offer much substance. ... read more

Don Toliver - OCTANE
70

This is Don Toliver's best production in a minute. The sound is fresh for him and I think it really works. While there's some songs on the album I think is just alright but it's salvaged by some songs that are currently my favorites of the year.

Fave tracks:
E85, Body, Secondhand

Least Fave:
Rosary, Tuition, TMU

Softcult - When a Flower Doesn’t Grow
70

I think it's a good record but I feel it would just be better if it commited to one genre. I think the mix of beauty in Dream pop with the grunge sound doesn't always match well. I just think the grunge sound doesn't work for softcult and the dream pop very much does.

Fave tracks:
Pill to swallow, I held you like glass, Queen of nothing, not sorry

Least fave:
Hurt me, 16/25, Naive

ROSALÍA - LUX
100

I thought I got the best album down from last year but then I heard this and WOW is this incredible. The artistry to combine classical music so well is incredible. no misses at all. by far the best album I heard in a long while

Oklou - choke enough
65

Honestly gave it a few listens and don't get it. It's too minimalistic and ambient for me to really engage with it. Oklou vocals are ethereal and pretty but the songs themselves is like an artist drawing with pencil on drywall, yes they're talented and can make something out of it but at the end of the day it's drywall as the canvas. Some good songs were Choke enough, Harvest sky and Blade bird. It's bubblegum pop, if you remove the bubble and the pop leaving it with ... read more

Far Caspian - Autofiction
80

While it is a great listen and really smooth and nice on the ears more instrumental variation or vocal variation would help really elevate this to a higher level. Also I think the shoegaze tag being there is very missleading, I hear very little of that and it doesn't really represent what shoegaze sounds like whatsoever.

Billie Marten - Dog Eared
90

This album is so calming and gorgeous. The folk instrumentation and beautiful vocals just leaves such an easy album to listen to.

Blood Orange - Essex Honey
86

It's very lush and beautiful. The production is so calming and gorgeous, with a mix of jazz production on songs that just make it pop for it's bedroom pop equivalents.

Fave tracks:
The field, Mind Loaded, The Train, The last of england

Tame Impala - Deadbeat
50

Very dissapointing album. Tame Impala is known for it's atmospheric and gorgeous production but all of that is lost on this album. It doesn't sound bad just very bland, uninspiring. Aside from Dracula this album can largerly be completely ignored and you won't be missing out. Listen to his old albums instead, it'll sound newer and more refreshing than this record.

Fave Track:
Dracula

Jane Remover - ♡
90

Jane just wanted the juciest steak the butteriest of lobsters releasing yet another masterpiece of an album this year. I love this direction in R&B and it is some of the catchiest music out this year.

Faves:
Magic I want U,Dream Sequence, Flash in the Pan, So what?
