Tucker Zimmerman - Word Games
75
On "Word Games" we see Tucker Zimmerman, an artist who although wasn't one of the biggest singer-songwriters in the 70s but had a flourishing career nonetheless, adapt to the styles of the time by carefully applying synths and drum machines in places where they were needed. These additions are well-placed and rarely distracting, and doesn't take away the charm of Tucker's songwriting but rather compliments it (examples: "Everybody's Business" and "Different Ways of ... read more
John Lennon & Yoko Ono - Unfinished Music No. 1: Two Virgins
45
Although the first side does have its fair share of interesting moments, by the time you get to Side Two, the sense of structure and "meaning" (using that term rather loosely) that was present on Side One quickly devolves into pointless noise-making.
Mort Garson - The Zodiac: Cosmic Sounds
55
While the idea of a concept album based on zodiac signs is admirable, it unfortunately doesn't stand out from every other spoken-word psychedelic rock album released in this period. Timothy Leary's "Turn On, Tune In, Drop Out" comes to mind considering that it was released in the same year as "The Zodiac", and due to how similar those two albums are sonically, it becomes nothing but dreadful déjà vu from start to finish. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt.
Moondog - Moondog & His Honking Geese Playing Moondog's Music
75
This short EP consisting of Moondog and his backing band (appropriately named "Honking Geese") show sparks of the imaginative songwriting that Moondog is capable of when conducting an orchestra. Musical potential that he would go on to fulfil on his 1969 self-titled album.
Various Artists - Songs in the Key of Z, Vol. 3: The Curious Universe of Outsider Music
60
11 years after Vol. 2, the Key of Z series continues with two more volumes.

When comparing Vol. 3 to previous installations of "Key of Z", a lot of the chaotic energy and general unpredictability that Vol. 1 & 2 had seems to be missing from its tracklist, and ends up taking rather dull and at-times predictable directions. For instance, tracks 11-12 and 18-19 all center around the topics of USA and patriotism ("Because We Care", "Wake Up America") and being a ... read more

Heyo, would you have any recommendation to get started with moondog? I remember listening to his self titled a while ago and found it underwhelming, but I want to give him another chance. Perhaps from a different angle?

So, I was thinking about a list I wanted to make of albums that I wanted to listen to again, but then I thought of a different idea. I'm going to be asking around AOTY for albums that people would be willing to erase their memory of to listen to them again. So, makeshiftdiary, what are 5 albums you would like to erase your memory of to listen to them for the first time ever again?

thank you very much
