This is one of their better singles in general, and the violin sample works surprisingly well in the instrumental. The post chorus and outro, however, are really stodgy and generic. Both sections present similar musical ideas to ones Blackpink has explored in past releases, ideas that were never good in the first place.

I don't really understand how it took YG three years to cook up this upcoming album, cause based on the singles thus far it's just business as usual.

The lyrics are shoddy, the chorus lacks melodic variation (especially for it's length), and the song overall fails to equal the level of structural and stylistic experimentation their two previous singles were hailed for. It's unfortunately a sizeable drop in quality and inspiration, while retaining the core elements of their past singles.

Both of IVE's lead singles are weighted down by their generic and uneccesary post choruses. Did these songs seriously need to adhere to the all to familiar repetitious onomatopoeias before saying the song title trope? It feels so forced, which is unfortunate considering their creative ambition in other areas.

ngl I feel like I'm watching Treehouse when that chorus kicks in. Idk why it's taking SM so long to realize we'd all be perfectly happy with another R&B banger like Psycho/Bad Boy.
