EN: "Remain in Light" sounds like a breath in the wind after Fear of Music, but the truth is that it is even scarier than its predecessor. The lyrics are disconnected from each other, but the philosophy behind it is what matters most. Political themes, the nihilism present in The Listening Wind generates this amalgam of feelings that punch your stomach. Andrew Belew's crazy bass and Tina's crazy vocals and David Byrne's crazy vocals compress in a way that Harrison and Frantz do their ... read more

EN: "Whatever People Say What I Am, That's What I Not" is a British landmark of the 2000s and I say even more: a landmark in the history of music in general. I know I said I'd definitely come back in January - and I will - but I've rethought a lot about this band and every time I listen to at least one song on this album, the memory of me listening to it comes back to me and noticing how every single thing and detail is not put aside. Everything is in its place and it is enviable that ... read more

EN: "Metal Box" is a sigh in a repetitive and uninteresting catalog. While it may seem crass to say that at first, it perhaps explains quite a bit about the band's musicianship. On Metal Box, however, there are certain riches and innovations that demonstrate why PIL is considered one of the pioneers in Post-Rock. Short songs that can be boring or long songs compressed into three parts that serve as a triumph. A bitter gray record of what was Manchester and England in the 70s and ... read more

EN: "Atrocity Exhibition" is the rebirth of Danny Brown. Whereas previously his songs were experimental, but lacked soul and spirit, the deal here is different. It sounds like a mixture of MF... DOOM, Kanye West and why not Notorious BIG, all in one space between 15 records. Without a shadow of a doubt, the lyrics speak of death; something he apparently experienced during his adulthood often. You notice the charisma, the passion for what he does - and he conveys these feelings with ... read more

EN: "Amoroso" speaks of love, pains, waves, the recurring feeling of longing in what is most intrinsic in human beings. Although sung in Portuguese with some nuances of foreign languages, it is good for the unsuspecting listener to be aware that the music is universal, being for everyone. The calmness portrayed here is unlike the music of any continent and any era; discard North America and Europe; the sound here is Bossa Nova, rooted in Brazil. João Gilberto is like a ... read more

EN: "The La's" really isn't the perfect album that critics usually love. However, it is an influential album for Britpop and you can tell that from the sound. Some moments can seem lazy and uninspired, but other than that; the album, as well as the band's effort, brings with it the minimalism that was derived from a pop future that was yet to emerge for the time. You can easily understand the influence of this album when listening to There She Goes and Freedom Song. A lightness, the ... read more

I'm bored and so decided to make another community list; this time...

What is a record you believe has defined its genre albeit through shaping said genre, or has established said genre in popularity and/or existence, and why?

Hey there! How are you? I'm making a list and I would like to know: what do you think is a perfect album to listen to in a certain city and which city would that be? Try and choose a city from your country or state/province. If you want to add some words on why you would choose that album, they will be welcome. Thank you!

Hey there! I’m making a community list for the end of the world, and I would love for you to contribute.

“The surrounding buildings, in ruins. The last survivors, scrambling to find anything that remains. Fire flickers in the pitch-black, creating just a sliver of radiance. Miraculously, you find an old device that can play music. You can only play one album as the battery is nearly dead. Knowing that you have little time left, what is the one album that you choose to listen to as you watch the world crumble before your eyes?”

The album topic could discuss a disastrous time, its sound could fit the vibe of a post apocalyptic setting, or it could be one of your favorite albums that you would want to experience for the last time.

Please provide the artist, album, and an explanation as to why you chose that specific album.

Thank you for reading <3

Here’s the list:
