EN: "Remain in Light" sounds like a breath in the wind after Fear of Music, but the truth is that it is even scarier than its predecessor. The lyrics are disconnected from each other, but the philosophy behind it is what matters most. Political themes, the nihilism present in The Listening Wind generates this amalgam of feelings that punch your stomach. Andrew Belew's crazy bass and Tina's crazy vocals and David Byrne's crazy vocals compress in a way that Harrison and Frantz do their ... read more

EN: "Ambient 1: Music for Airports" is simple. It's empty. It's unassuming, being part of this quiet symphony, and at the same time it transitions between something so carnal and visceral that it even strikes you. His first work as an ambient artist leaves nothing to be desired. He experiments as much as he can, and although everything seems to be the same song, each one brings something different, and it is impossible to tell. Emotions are part of a mix so vigorous and beautiful in ... read more

EN: "V" is like listening to the angels. It is the purest, most beautiful, melancholic album with a touch of hope that Legião Urbana could have made over the seven albums while Renato Russo was still alive. What is strangest is that it is touching, but not in a good way. Given the situation in Brazil at the time, the songs are charged with a purposeful boredom and a dull sense of justice that weighs heavy on our hearts. However, this is just a touch of perfection that leaves V ... read more

EN: "Art Angels" shows Grimes' potency as an artist. Being a complex artist, there are many musical elevations made here, being pure experimentation and at no point does that get lost. Influence of grime music, dark wave, there is absolutely everything here, showing Grimes' knowledge of music. The artist is a new Björk, a rebirth in music, and the futuristic themes leave nothing to be desired. There are incredibly layers and layers that enhance your ears, with instrumentation ... read more

EN: "Lateralus" is the proof that shows I don't care about Pitchfork. Why, seriously, give such a tantalizing album a measly 1.9/10 rating? It's not even worth the read. The mathematical complexities - which I value more in music than in school - and even other things like the aggressiveness that seduces you is a sample of a Progressive Metal very well used, without leaving any traces behind. Of course some songs sound like Undertow, almost like an homage, since certain passages leave ... read more

EN: "Spirit of Eden" is breathtaking. Particularly, I am not an avid fan of the first three Talk Talk albums. They sound too conventional, but are still solid and worth a listen for the fun of it. The last two albums, especially Spirit of Eden, are the peak of the masterpiece. The post-rock is harnessed by long intervals that serve to create that mundane, dark feeling of loneliness, plus themes like glory and religion being addressed not only in the titles, but in the arrangements. ... read more

Hey there! How are you? I'm making a list and I would like to know: what do you think is a perfect album to listen to in a certain city and which city would that be? Try and choose a city from your country or state/province. If you want to add some words on why you would choose that album, they will be welcome. Thank you!

Hey there! I’m making a community list for the end of the world, and I would love for you to contribute.

Prompt:

“The surrounding buildings, in ruins. The last survivors, scrambling to find anything that remains. Fire flickers in the pitch-black, creating just a sliver of radiance. Miraculously, you find an old device that can play music. You can only play one album as the battery is nearly dead. Knowing that you have little time left, what is the one album that you choose to listen to as you watch the world crumble before your eyes?”

The album topic could discuss a disastrous time, its sound could fit the vibe of a post apocalyptic setting, or it could be one of your favorite albums that you would want to experience for the last time.

Please provide the artist, album, and an explanation as to why you chose that specific album.

Thank you for reading <3
