This new Drake album is the best Drake album he's put out in years. He talks spanish in this one. That's because he's the everyman that everyone loves. He brings in some of the best features we've seen, like Sexy Red or whoever the fuck it was on there. He's easily parried Kendrick's attempts to get to him by "releasing the best song of 2024" and "getting like 10 grammies" and "playing the super bowl" and "being a better ... read more
Track 1 is about how the youth are too WOKE nowadays... they will cancel you for BREATHING... i can't even get my MAIL... Track 3 is a cover of a song about how the youth need to rebel to maintain spaces in which they can enjoy and express themselves freely when adults refusing to cultivate actively work to dismantle those spaces.
I'm not convinced they thought this through at all.
Music for Bugs is a beautiful album, full of joy and wonder at the act of being alive. These little creatures each have their own immaculate beauty, such incredible joy to spread just from their being around. Isn't it beautiful that we share the world with them? Isn't it wonderful that we get to exist at the same time as these fascinating creatures?
The singing isn't great, which makes it *really* hard to enjoy such a vocal-centric EP.
Vaughan's beatmaking prowess is on full display, with some actually quite impressive work on tracks like DK and Alien. Unfortunately, that's the full extent to which I cared for the album - really didn't care for the vocals, though I know a number of people who might.
the vocals are really really bad, to the detriment of the rest of the album. the instrumentals can go really hard, but the vocals genuinely ruined the album for me.
unbelievably forgettable. i forgot i listened to this until i went through the listens i had. not worth bothering with, really - their more acclaimed work is far better
See, the influence of 4chan affects music culture to this day. To this day, you have people pointing at this album and calling it some of the best cloud rap, no wonder it inspired the genre - things of this nature, blah blah blah. All this in spite of the fact that the people who originally were enjoying this album were doing so ironically as a joke because of how it sounded like crap. They did this as a form of trolling - intentionally showing ass on how bad their taste was to convince people ... read more
Listened to this on the plane. This is some great "listen on the plane" type music. Somewhere where the post-rock vibes hit but the indie rock vibes shine through that patina
An incredible listen, with 4 stunningly well-produced early-vaporwave tracks. Strawbery Skies is an absolute all-timer 10/10 smokeshow of a track; with gorgeous productions, dripping vocals, and an overall immaculate feel. The rest are still quite good. Midi Drift is quite nice.
Look at that dog's happy grin. That's my happy grin. That's me when i'm listening to this album. What a fun album. Some of the most fun jazz I've heard in ages.
The minimal aesthetic this album is going for doesn't work. Too much time with very little going on, which blunts the emotional impact this album is going for. Jump and The Letters are both pretty good. I wish the album sounded more like them.
Lauderdale detour - 40
Marigold - 50
Brand New - 45
G-dzillah G'dolah - 35 - dull minimal beat. Uninteresting sound and the lyricism isn't doing it for me
Jump - 75 - finally something interesting on this album!
Later at the Loon - 60 - ... read more
with every year i become one step closer to making this a 10
the problem with releasing one album every month is that one month you get one of the most incredible glitch pop albums ever made and the next month you get incredibly mid ambient pop that doesn't really go anywhere and is honestly pretty skippable
the music is fine but i cannot hear it and not think about the shit this dude did like goddamn
