Marina's new fantasy world by the name of 'Ancient Dreams In A Modern Land' is so damn refreshing. Well... it actually took some time, but she's in her full form, perhaps she's never been this great. From top to bottom this record is a great choice, the tracks all sound so refined, production wise I'm v-e-r-y impressed, some of the lyrics aren't the best but that's not even a point, her voice compensates anything.
It's not an absolutely perfect album, but that may be the exact point. She's indeed reinventing herself to a degree, but maintaining her essence there, the drama of Diamandis is always present as her wit in being an artist. Her last project as we all know wasn't exactly the best (actually her worse), but as the time passed I tend to think that it was a necessary step to growth.
The thematic runs between being completely vulnerable and delicate or just losing your mind in full female rage (or both).
