Taylor Swift - Red (Taylor's Version)
Nov 12, 2021
To talk about Red, an indirect connected album with the iconic 'Blue' by Joni Mitchell. You have to talk about the powerful lyricism of Taylor Swift.
The most interesting female writer of the music industry, wrote many of the best lyrics of her career in this record. Beautiful ballads like 'I Almost Do', 'All Too Well', 'Sad Beautiful Tragic' and many others, through pop bangers like 'I Know You Were Trouble', '22', 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together'; Really, there's no boundaries to the musical creativity of this stunning artist.
The production is also up to par, amazing guitars, non conventional acoustic guitars, pianos, you name it. In the (Taylor's Version) it all feels even more mature, even though it was already very adult for the time it was originally released.
The emotional power many of these tracks have are a rarity, she opened her heart, talking about heartbreaks, emotional tantrums, disappointments, romantic bliss, empathy, hatred, but mostly about feeling an insane pain towards "true love".
Her voice is different but she still manages to give that nostalgic touch, to basically every single song. Some are a little different, the hardcore swifties might be a little crazy for it. The finesse she's able to portrait is really on another level, it feels fancy, like several glasses of the best wine.
The featurings in The Vault, apart from Ed Sheeran, are all great. Special thanks to Phoebe Bridgers who's my fucking goddess, I'll never get over the fact that both my sad queen are finally united.
Sometimes it seems like it was fate, to release a record that is so enticing for some people, specially when come to the young & reckless (like me), there's a feeling of freedom and self awareness, when you start to transition from naive to mindful; There's just something on the air, a state of grace.
