Although it feels like Paak has left the heavy soul influences across this record comparitively speaking to his previous album, its clear that the soul has not left Paak. On a star-studded effort to follow up his massively successful Malibu project that brought him into the mainstream, Paak is impossible to outshine even with the collaborators across this album. Rather than be overshadowed, the features here merely compliment this record and brings out the West Coast vibes that are a heavy influence across this. Although perhaps not quite as technically crisp as Malibu was, this is still a huge statement of the rappers success and not only solidifies his stance in the scene but confirms that he is only going to keep growing as an artist and will likely be recognized as one of the modern greats. Most importantly, this album has a ton of potential to continue to grow on you across multiple listens, and will likely be the hip hop record with the most staying power of 2018.
