For me, the key features of this album are in their right place. Clairo has a dreamy and captivating voice across this, bearing through some of the overused moments of auto-tune that honestly were not needed to make her voice sound impressive. The production is sound and although there were a few misfires at points, it largely impresses. I also think that the songwriting here meshes well with the vocal performance, which is really an important feature of this style of music working.
There really is more to like than dislike for me on this album, and I could easily return to this album for a third of forth listen and not feel like I'm overexposed.
Is this the most absolutely original piece of music? Probably not, no. But as an additional indie pop/dream pop record it hits the mark it shoots for.
