An album in which there are bright flashes of crisp production but a complete lack of versatility, creativity, and genuinity.
Sonically, there are at least some pretty strong moments here. The album has a consistent vibe and doesn't ever necessarily sound poor. It would be a decent album to put on in the background of a party and allow to keep the energy up. However this is really the major praise I have for this record.
The production inevitably falls into the realm of hollow, as the songwriting here is entirely bland and the tracks never divulge entirely. I couldnt really tell the difference from track to track, aside from the very strange Ozzy feature. This inevitably does not build to strong flow but instead creates an album with virtually no diversity throughout; a complete one-dimensional and uninspiried effort.
The vocal performance also feels largely uninteresting and fabricated. Effects on vocals are by no means an inherently bad thing to include, but there is no point where you feel like Post Malone is performing anything as himself. It just feels distant and not entirely engaging.
Post has never been an album kind of artist, and even his singles have never felt that inspired. Nothing about Hollywood's Bleeding begs for the belief that the artist can craft a compelling record throughout and barely provides even flashes of interesting moments on his own.
