Swans - Children of God

Here, Swans sound really starts to take more form than any of their previous records. The voice of Jarboe really takes center stage for me, as the tracks featuring her vocals create a perfect contrast with Gira's deep and haunting performances. The album, for this reason, just feels a little more varied and thematic than their previous releases. Those thematic elements are so essential, as Swans begin here to take on a massive and expansive sound that is bolstered by something with a little more structure and something to help follow down the path with their experimental and shaking sound.
