Danny Brown & JPEGMAFIA - SCARING THE HOES

I'm a little torn on this project, on one hand the production is insane on every single track and there are bars here for ages, like "Go ahead, girl, just bless me, if you on your period, call me Moses, 'cause I'm about to split that red sea", and when the tracks pop, they really fucking pop. Specially the title track and Burfict, easily the best moments here.

On the other hand, yeah, it's the mixing, I'm sorry. I really can't get over just how blown out and badly mixed some of these ... read more

You know it's good when you write a review for the project twice.

I don't know what this band does (maybe an actual deal with devil, as pointed out in Up Song), but their music has always such an emotional impact on me. They keep finding new ways to hit me in the feels and make me loose myself in their sound. And with this new release, it's no different.

I mean, what is there left to say about Black Country, New Road that hasn't been said at this point? These guys came out of nowhere at the ... read more

Swans - Paradise Is Mine

I kid you not when I say I haven't been this excited for an album in my whole fucking life.

Swans are finally releasing the first single to what could sadly be their last LP, and oh. my. god it's good. The track has this insane groove with a very prominent bass line, which are extremely reminiscent of To Be Kind, but also the feel and atmosphere of something from The Glowing Man. I loved it and really cannot wait for this album.

Danny Brown & JPEGMAFIA - SCARING THE HOES

These singles ain't doing too much for me man I'm sad 😭😭😭

Edit: 70 -> 80 Alright, a few more listens and this already grew on me a lot, but the production is once again, feeling like it's lacking something... The bass isn't nearly as prominent as it should be, and I don't know what is up with Danny Brown's vocal mixing on these couple of singles, but it needs to stop. His voice has no punch at all, and that's Danny Brown we're talking about here, probably one of the most unique ... read more

Lil Pump - Lil Pump 2

Every time Lil Pump releases something new, I see people saying that he's just trying to revitalize the success he once had. Well, I disagree with that, because if it's true, then it would imply that, whenever he's tired of trying to relive that success, he would have the capacity, the ability and the talent to move on to something new and refreshing. Well, judging by this LP right here, he very clearly lacks all of those three things, severely.

I'll commend Pump in one thing and one thing ... read more

"Queen of California, hot like the heat is, got Anthony Kiedis sucking on my penis". Oh yeah baby, it's gec season.

Almost a year and a half after the release of the first single "mememe", and many, many delays later, 100 gecs sophomore album is finally here, and it is very good. I was a little scared about this, as I was not sure if the more pop punk direction that the singles were going for appealed to me that much, but, thankfully, in the context of the album, it all ... read more

On their debut , 100 gecs master the art of being simultaneously one of the best and one of the worst things you'll ever hear in your life.

Despite being extremally excited for their new album, it's been a while since I don't listen to some gecs, so I decided to revisit their debut (mind you, I've probably listened to this album a million times already) just to get in the mood, and man, I really wouldn't want to be in the skin of someone who doesn't enjoy this. Out of silly voices, dumb lyrics ... read more

HEY YOU, yes, you reading this right now, stop what you're doing and go listen to this album, this kid is making some pretty amazing music and is not getting the recognition he deserves, and the user score for both of his albums being under 80 is crazy.

On their second album, Dispirited Spirits expands their array of influences, adding a lot of midwest emo and jazz elements into their songs. These influences, for the most part, works on the band's favor and help to create an incredible ... read more

It's kind of crazy that this album was made by a portuguese guy because, as a brazilian, I pretty much consider this Portugal's apology for stealing our gold.
Danny Brown & JPEGMAFIA - Lean Beef Patty

Danny Brown and Peggy's collaboration project has been one of my most anticipated releases of this year for a while now, and listening to this first single... I'm scared.

The production is very good, as it is to expect from a song made by these two, but I don't know, it sort of feels like it doesn't go anywhere? Here's hoping that the track grows on me once the full project gets released, because, judging by the fact that the whole album will have 14 songs but only be 27 minutes long, it's ... read more

Destroyer - Kaputt

There are some albums that, when you listen to them for the first time, you feel like telling the world about them, as you seem to have found a hidden masterpiece. Well, Destroyer's Kaputt, to me, is that album.

This LP is absolutely incredible, masterfully produced and put together, but, most of all, one the most beautiful things you'll ever let your ears have the privilege to hear. From majestic, and jazz inspired soundscapes, to crushing drones with some touches of the most spacey and ... read more

Nop, you're not reading it wrong and you're not crazy, this is very much real. As of today, there is, in fact, a song called "Justice For All" made by Donald Trump and the fucking "January 6th Prison Choir", this choir's name being probably the funniest shit I've ever read in my whole life.

Bro, the artworks for this era are so ass, wtf is this??

Easily the most mid single so far. I was actually kinda hooked at the start, the track gave off some neat And Justice For All vibes, but this lacks any sort interesting development to keep me interested, besides just moving my head to the main riff.

This is just disgusting. It's been a while since an album clicked this fast and heavy for me, but man, this thing is awesome, tied up with BCNR's live album as my favorite project of the year so far.

The tracks here are unforgiven, the opener, "donkey show", is a crushing piece of industrial and noise rock, the following track, "Mosquito", has one hell of a catchy hook: WITH A BODY COUNT HIGHER THAN A MOSQUITO. And that's not to mention the absolute chaotic, noisy, eerie, ... read more

In 2020, during the pandemic, Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett did their best to keep the fans' minds busy, since, at the beginning of that year, they started Song Machine: Season 1. Each month, a single was released, and the final project turned out to be a super fun album, with songs featuring the band's signature cartoonish production. And, as the album pleased both critics ... read more

(EDIT: 90 -> 95) Lewis' vocals aren't much of a problem for me anymore, as the instrumentation on both of the songs he's in grew heavy on me, and I also realized that the second half of the project is just pure musical perfection

I was still feeling a little worried about the future of the band without Isaac, but this performance put those worries to rest. It's stuff like this that makes Black Country, New Road the most exciting band currently in music.

We finally have an official live ... read more

"@D33407Y another example that I could use of "good" mindless fun music is actually Lil Pump's debut. You know he didn't spend too much time writing "D ROSE D ROSE D ROSE" over and over, but I would be lying if I said that a lot of the songs on that album do not bang. As mindless as it is, that album actually had a lot of fun songs, and Lil Pump's teenager "fuck everything" attitude, was honestly, kind of entertaining. And those are qualities that, ever since that album, he has completely lost. But yeah i think you get the point lul"

"@D33407Y as I said on the last paragraph of this review, you can't enjoy this just as "mindless fun" music because, despite the album not taking itself too seriously, these songs, to me at least, are just not good. They're generic, badly produced, and have pretty awful and disgusting lyrics. 100 gecs do not take themselves seriously, but their songs have a level of charisma and charm that's 100% absent from this album, plus, they're just fun and entertaining as hell. To me, it basically comes down to there being good mindless music and bad mindless music, just like there are good and bad music from any other genre or style out there :)"
