Have you ever ever heard an album that was simply happiness? Pure bliss all over the entire listen, not one tune sounding lackluster, all of them having full quality. An album which you can repeat for years and by no means feel dissatisfied at any point and time. That album for me is Tyler, The Creator’s “Flower Boy”.

“Flower Boy” was an enormous stylistic risk for Tyler, The Creator, and in my opinion, it’s among the very best albums of all time. A novel and cohesive listen, with memorable lyrics and exquisite production, this album easily makes my top 10 albums list. This album is very near and dear to my heart, and it’s something that I will cherish for years to come. That particular special feel of this album is the true bounds why I really love this album so much. How did we get here?

Coming off “Cherry Bomb”, nobody actually knew the direction Tyler would go next. Quite a lot of people have been very critical of that album. His new route simply didn’t look very appealing, even for a longtime fan, I wasn't really fond of it. It was okay, but wasn’t the Tyler I knew, and I wasn’t very prepared for the future. “Flower Boy” is definitely not the Tyler I know, but it’s the Tyler I love now. “Flower Boy” is by far Tyler's greatest project, overtaking “WOLF” and even standing up taller than it’s successor “IGOR”.

As I stated before, this album is pure bliss. I can’t actually get sufficient about how joyful it makes me. The singles line-up alone are among the best singles for an album ever. Boredom, See You Again, Who Dat Boy, 911 / Mr. Lonely, and I Ain’t Got Time, are all masterpieces in my opinion. I believe all of these songs are excellent as all of them show every part of this album. Generally with an album, the singles are the standout tracks, and the remaining are usually not on par with them, but with “Flower Boy”, it’s very different. All of the songs have the identical high quality of the singles, making this an album I can actually say has no skips at all. I’d take heed to this and would maintain a smile on my face throughout the entire listen, it by no means appears to disappoint me at any point. Normally over listening to one thing diminishes your preliminary interest in it, but this album aged like fine wine, and I appreciate it much more than I did from my initial listen.

There are just a few elements that make this album as great as it is. One of the most effective factors of this album is the production. The style of music that I can compared with the production to is jazz. Examples of that kind of production is present on songs like “Droppin’ Seeds” and “Garden Shed”. There's a few of the different examples of a little bit more different production on songs like “See You Again” and “Boredom”, they are fairly unique, nonetheless jazz in my opinion, but a lot of pop components were added to it. Then there’s a slight minority of songs which have a miniature jazz presence with “I Ain’t Got Time” and “Who Dat Boy”. I actually love this selection as it is cohesive, but all of the songs are nonetheless distinctive from each other, making the listen interesting all the way through.

The feature decisions are actually great as well. You can tell Tyler spent time thinking about what features to pick, and I’m glad he took the time to do this as a substitute of throwing on mainstream artists. You can clearly see this as all the features sound good on their parts. A number of them sound like themselves, sustaining their very own appeal, but nearly sounding better here than their very own music (Lil Wayne and Jaden Smith), whereas the others sound as phenomenal as they sound on their very own (Frank Ocean, Rex Orange County, and Kali Uchis). From an outsider's perspective, this can be a very unusual feature line-up, but with the context and sound of the album, I can’t actually think about it being any different. The entirety of the features don’t underperform, they have memorable performances, they don’t get carried by Tyler or the production, they maintain their own, which is very great.

The most important factor for me that makes this album so great is Tyler himself. His own performances tie this album together, which I really feel is the most important part. If you yourself makes your own album great, then you’ve hit a home run. I really feel without Tyler’s vocals and mannerisms, this wouldn’t possess the identical magic it has now. He retains your interest. He doesn’t sound identical on each song. He switches it up, and sounds great on everything he does on here. It’s not a hit or miss ordeal, it’s all hits.

“Flower Boy” is one of the special and magical albums I’ve ever heard in my life. Nothing in it’s genre can actually be compared with it, it’s in its own league. I only need to elucidate my previous experiences and general ideas with one word, and it’s bliss. The title and cover of it completely entails what it’s going to be. It’s a fun, glossy, jazzy, flowery album that by no means appears to disappoint me. An album that I can’t skip one track of, as it doesn’t provide it full justice for what it is. An album that provides me pure happiness anytime I listen to it, and it doesn't matter what mood I’m in. One thing that I can simply go to when I really feel down, it actually cheers me up instantly. An album that I can look back on for years to come, appreciating it increasingly more after every listen. The general enjoyment I actually have for this album is immeasurable, and doubtless the most I’ve ever enjoyed an album.

This is an album that I’ll love forever, and won’t regret a moment of it.
