The definition of wholesomeness.
„john” is a beautifully ethereal album that fuses the serenity of ambient passages and kaleidoscopic, blooming, and unpredictable tinges of neo-psychedelia with nature recordings.
The album is dreamlike and aquatic. Melodies loop over and over, yet they don’t feel redundant or repetitive. Nature noises pull the listener into a hazy, beautiful world that’s painted with soft, pastel colors and a thick layer of fog that only a bright sun ... read more
Great improvement on some major fronts!
Pxcci returns with a new song, and what’s instantly noticeable is the quality of the flow. It isn’t as stale as it was on the previous release. It’s much more expressive and interesting. Although I still think there’s room for improvement, it’s definitely a step up. The beat was also better than the previous one - it felt more defined and confident, if that makes sense.
That said, I gave it a slightly lower score than the ... read more
I’m really torn about this EP.
Based on the exterior of the record, I should love it. Like, come on - “psychedelic,” “ethereal,” “surreal,” and “lush” said in one breath? It’s like they tried to tick off all the boxes that I love about music.
There’s also a feature from the widely known AOTY user star samlrc, who produced an amazing post-rock/shoegaze album, “A Lonely Sinner,” which I fell in love with from the ... read more
Titles that would get me weird stares from people: definitive edition.
Ladies and gentlemen, it’s „Let’s Make Them Viral” week 13, and we’re opening this year with „YES, Maybe, IDK” by Muffin Fox! This week’s theme was animals, and the server picked out fox. I had a contribution in this vote, because I adore foxes, so I’m glad that animal won this time.
Anyways, back to the album. It’s a record that’s extremely unfocused in ... read more
A surprisingly decent debut EP from an unknown band.
So, as you guys already know, I love dream pop. So I’m not even shocked I really enjoyed it. Of course it isn’t any major breakout or an innovative masterpiece, but as a first piece of media ever released by the band, it’s surprising how good this is.
My favourite song off of the album is „Pangea,” which blends the fuzzy guitar with warm keys. Although I wish the band explored the sound of the keys more. When ... read more
Little Simz gives us another reason why she should be considered one of the most interesting personalities UK Hip Hop has seen in a while.
I also said it in my EsDeeKid review, but I’ll say it once again – I think UK Hip Hop has been lacking in quality for some time now. Thank God we have amazing artists such as Simz to save the day!
If you have been slightly aware of what’s going on in this sphere, you’d know that for a while now she has been releasing some of the ... read more
I’m sorry, but this is one of the most unimaginative albums I have come across in a while.
Genuinely, this feels like the band is laughing at the metal community straight in their faces. Metal isn’t just distorted guitars and screams. Many artists use the genre as a way to channel their anger about their issues and problems, portray philosophical and existential themes, and create music that’s as heavy as it is thought-provoking.
Paleface Swiss however seems to forget that ... read more
Slowcore, I’ll always love you
As I said in the previous sentence, I love slowcore. Its soul-crushing, fragile sound drenched in unholy amounts of reverb, with vocals that waver over the instrumental, has always entranced me.
Ethel Cain brings the usual traits of the genre she’s working with - folk and dream-pop influences are omnipresent, the instrumentation is minimalistic, and the overall tone is really gloomy. Yet she carves out her own sound on the record by adding an ... read more
That intro is definitely something.
So, ISSBROKIE is an artist who had crossed my page a lot of times, yet I never really had the time or motivation to get into her music - aside from that one feature on Femtanyl’s song “NASTYWERKKKK!”. I’d seen a lot of people talking about and praising this project on a Discord server, so I finally decided to give it a shot.
And yeah, you can tell these are clearly outtakes from a main album, because the whole thing feels pretty ... read more
Miley Cyrus doing a top 5 album of the year wasn’t on my list, but here we are.
Let’s just say I’m shocked by how amazing this album is. No, the word “shocked” would be an giant understatement. I’m flabbergasted, astonished, and whatever other synonyms you can find in the dictionary.
I’m going to be brutally honest - I never saw Miley as an artist who would pull off anything as adventurous or ambitious as she did on this record. Sure, she had a ... read more
This is culturally inappropriate!
Once again, I apologise for my extensive break. Creative burnout hit me like a ton of bricks after my last review, and I had no motivation to write anything at all. I also didn’t want to serve y’all a half-assed effort compared to what I usually try to achieve on my profile. I wanted to finish the 2025 list in, well… 2025, but it didn’t go as expected, so I’ll try to wrap this up as quickly as possible without sacrificing ... read more

“Forever Howlong” is an album that is so whimsical and pleasant that every time I listen to it, it warms my heart. I’m genuinely in love with how domestic every note sounds on this record. While listening, I feel like I’m lying in spring fields, surrounded by colourful flowers ... read more

Although 1991 was an exceptional year for music, with such memorable albums as Nirvana's Nevermind, which literally started the whole grunge wave that took over the world for the next few years, in the UK an unknown band was creating an album that would shake up the music world and lead to the creation of one of my favourite music genres, trip-hop.
The debut of the now legendary trip-hop band, Blue Lines, by Massive Attack presents us with a set of ... read more

EsDeeKid rose to fame practically overnight and became an internet sensation right from the start. Whether you like him or not, you have to admit that he gained a huge fan base in a surprisingly short time.
Rap music in the UK has been in crisis for some time now – that is an undeniable fact. Of course, there are some exceptions, such as Little Simz, LAUSSE THE CAT and a few other underground rappers, but if you look at the mainstream, the situation does not ... read more

Honestly, it exceeded my expectations.
For the first minute, I was a bit skeptical. That noise really reminded me of the intro to 'All I Need' by Clams Casino, which also starts with a similar atmospheric hum. My confusion only grew when I heard the strange female voice.
But the second that deep, digital bassline and those synth stabs both came in, I was sold. As more and more elements were added to the percussion, the beat ... read more

A really hidden songwriter talent!
So, about the song, it's rather short - cutting at 2.04, but it's really dense in lyrical content. A laidback, warm jazz sample and some standard percussion are the main parts of the beat. Really minimalistic, nothing too crazy, but it's decent and works well.
Now, about the lyrics, they are honestly amazing. In my interpretation, it's a tale of someone, who struggled with finding their place in the ... read more

Some amazing songs and passion are buried under questionable mixing and some unexplored ideas that could make the sound better.
Bedroom pop isn't something I had ever taken an interest in. Not because I dislike the genre; it mostly comes from the fact that it had always flown under my radar. I know some of the genre's biggest artists, such as Mac DeMarco, Alex G, or Steve Lacy, but I would never dive deeper into that. From the knowledge I ... read more

A very promising album from the band Shitnoise, which, despite its flaws, has some very good highlights.
Noise rock is one of my favourite genres, mostly due to how unique every band's approach is. Through the dreamy, ethereal shoegaze, to the pummeling, punishing and uncompromising no wave - the genre's sound is very wide.
At the beginning, I thought the album is going to lean more into the harsher, rougher side of noise rock. And I was ... read more
Muddy waters, you say… is that a JPEGMAFIA reference?
Anyways, it honestly gets a lot better when the noise from the start disappears and the vocal chops shine through the wall of sound. It really reminded me of Hydr6c0don$, which also leans into the harsh, witch-house, sample-based soundscapes presented here.
It’s a really nice detour from the original post-industrial/noise style showcased on the previous albums, even though it still incorporates some of that style’s ... read more
A 37-minute adventure through the lush and grand chipmunk soul beats that, paired with incredible performances both from the main artists as well as the features, create one of the best sample-based jazz rap albums of this year.
From the start it isn’t hidden that the duo has big ambitions and ideas, although what makes them stand out is the fact that those traits actually are reflected in what they create—in this case, rap music. You can practically feel the desire to create ... read more
