One of my pet peeves is when people and organizations would review an album as soon as possible. I understand clicks are important for them, but music needs time to digest. My experience with this album is the perfect example of why you should let the music sit with you. I did not like this album when it came out, but now I do.
A big why I didn't like this album was because of the first single. The lead single, "LAW OF AVERAGES", was an unexciting sample that I still don't like to ... read more
BROCKHAMPTON, the best boy band since One Direction, released their best album since the Saturation series. The boys are back with a great body of work. They took inspiration from their past work and made an amazing Frankenstein album. This album can be fun. It can be sweet. It can also be depressing. If you are like me, you'll probably love and appreciate the entire album, but I know that will not be the case for everybody. With that said, I guarantee there is something for everybody in this ... read more
I've heard amazing things about Backxwash before checking out her music. Even though I heard great things, I did purposely avoid her music because I thought it would be too scary. I'll admit it, I'm a coward. About two weeks after this album was released. for some reason, Spotify recommended me the title track to this album and I was hooked. I started off by avoiding her music, but now I am a huge fan and I think this album is one of my favorite albums of the year.
The intro, "PURPOSE OF ... read more
Australian rapper and singer, Tkay Maidza, just released the final installment for her amazing Last Year Was Weird EP trilogy. As this is the final EP for the series, Tkay made sure to end off the trilogy with possibly her best work yet. With the help of producer Dan Farber, Tkay Maidza takes us on a fun and pretty journey through the flower territory.
The first track off the EP, “Eden”, does a great job at not only setting the stage for the listener but also transporting them into ... read more
Tyler, the Creator is one of my favorite rappers right now. I like almost every album he has released. Flower Boy and Igor are not only two of my favorite albums from the past decade, but Igor has quickly become one of my favorite albums of all time. With that said, I was curious about whether or not this album would be as good as his previous two. I was also curious about the direction he would go into as well. After giving this album several listens, I am pleasantly surprised with the ... read more
I am a fan of Kota the Friend's overall vibe. His music is always laid back and chill. He does a great job bringing summer vibes into his music. I think he is one of the best artists at delivering a consistent aesthetic. With that said, I have been wondering whether or not his shtick would get old to me. Luckily, with the help from Statik Selektah, Kota was able to switch things up just enough to provide a refreshing sound, but he doesn't stray away from his signature style.

Albums like this are the reason why I want to start exploring more genres. I grew up listening to mostly rap and pop music. That is why I am so into those genres now. With that said, I do want to explore my horizons and this album is a big reason why. Although it is very different for me, I do enjoy this album a lot. It is so new to me. I am glad I gave this album a try because it is definitely one of my favorite albums of the year.
This six track album starts off with an instrumental called ... read more
As someone who mostly listens to hip hop, I know very little about Weezer. I just know they get memed a lot and their self-titled blue album is supposed to be very good. Again, I wouldn't know since I mostly listen to hip hop. After giving OK Human a listen, I learned that they are much more than just a meme. It did take me several listens to click with it, but recently it all clicked for me. I am now hooked to this album.
The album starts off with the lead single "All My Favorite ... read more
CZARFACE and MF DOOM are back again with another collaborative album. I loved their first album Czarface Meets Metal Face, so I am of course very pleased to hear they were teaming up once again with Super What? This album was supposed to come out last year, but because of COVID, it was delayed. I am glad it is finally out. Their similar styles make this pairing a match made in heaven. Not only am I happy to hear them on an album together again, but it is especially nice to hear DOOM again ... read more
I don't really listen to J. Cole. I never really gave his discography a fair shot. This is mostly because the first J. Cole album I listened to was KOD. KOD was a very disappointing record that made me wonder why Cole has been so hyped up for years. I decided to give Cole another shot with the Off Season. To my surprise, this is a huge step up from his last solo effort.
The album starts off with Cam'ron hyping up the listener on "9 5 . s o u t h". The regal production is honestly so ... read more
Slowthai is one of my favorite rappers from the UK right now. After releasing his amazing debut album Nothing Great About Britain, I was excited about anything slowthai does. Listening to his singles and features was cool, but what I really wanted was another album. Luckily, us slowthai fans got what we wanted. Earlier this year slowthai dropped TYRON. This is a short double-disc album. Each disc has a different vibe. The first disc comes with the bangers. The second disc is a lot sadder. The ... read more
This project is the first material I have ever heard from Yves Tumor. I mostly listen to hip hop, so this isn't really something I go out seeking. When I was requested to check out this album from one of my youtube viewers I decided to give this album a try. After listening to this album I quickly became a fan.
The album starts off with "Gospel For a New Century". This is how you should start an album. The beat is in your face. It is loud and elaborate. Right out of the gate you can ... read more
Rico Nasty is one of my favorite mainstream female rappers. Over the past two years, Rico has been proving that she is one of the most exciting young artists out now. Last year she was a XXL freshman. She also dropped Anger Management. After releasing Anger Management, with Kenny Beats, I believed that she had a lot of potential. Her flashes of potential definitely show up on this album. Her aggressive delivery is so addicting. Luckily, we get a lot of that on this album.
For the most part, ... read more
When I first listened to this album I was pretty disappointed. Metro Boomin is probably my favorite trap producer and 21 Savage is one of my favorite trap artists. I expected fire from beginning to end, because whenever these two teams up the music usually turn out great. I actually stopped listening to the album after like four songs because I was so annoyed. After giving this album a chance, I have changed my mind. This is one of my favorite trap albums released this year.

It is finally time for me to lose all credibility. It has been a good run. I understand a lot of people believe I have good taste in music. Although I believe I do, I understand why people might think differently about me after saying this. I like 100 gecs. There I said it. I like 100 gecs. I not only like 100 gecs, but I also love this remix album. This remix album is one of the most entertaining and fun projects I have listened to all year.

Damn, sooooo I am one of the few people that genuinely enjoyed this project. Good to know....good to know. To be fair I didn't expect everybody to love this mixtape, but I am actually surprised by the amount of hate this project is getting. I do understand it because I do have my complaints. I just didn't expect all of the negative reviews. Art is subjective I guess.
What made me enjoy this mixtape so much is the change of direction. Instead of the rap and trap music he has been doing in the ... read more
UPDATE: SUPER TUESDAY! wasn't on the tracklist when I reviewed this EP. Other than Peggy reusing a bar I had no problem with this track. The beat doesn't sound like anything he has produced before. It sounds pretty classy. Peggy is always on point when he is rapping. Another great track. The rating will remain the same.
JPEGMAFIA is one of my favorite rappers right now. I love his experimental production and aggressive rapping. I am really glad Peggy decided to bless us this year by dropping ... read more
Quelle Chris is quickly becoming one of my favorite underground rappers. After releasing one of the best albums of 2019 with Guns, Quelle continues his hot-streak by dropping the sequel to Innocent Country. Quelle is once again working with producer Chris Keys. Just like Quelle Chris's voice, this album is weirdly beautiful. This one-two combo was able to make one of the most captivating rap albums released this year.
Chris Keys did amazing on production. This is one of the most organic ... read more
If Griselda were siblings, Benny would be the well respected older brother, Westside would be the crazy and loveable little brother, and Conway would be the forgotten middle child. This is a shame because Conway deserves a lot of attention. This album is one of the best Griselda projects ever, but yall not ready for that conversation. Conway was able to do what no other member has done before this record which is evolve. Unlike his brothers, Conway didn't keep it safe. He experimented a lot ... read more
Open Mike Eagle is known for being very weird and poetic. As expected, this album is weird and poetic. This album sounds like an actual open mic session, but it is very strange. In this album, Mike is reflecting on his real-life pain while implementing some humor and anime references. Although I wouldn't consider this album the best rap album released this year, it is definitely worth a listen.
The first track, "Death Parade", sets up the entire album in a very chill way. Mike's ... read more
