Manchester Orchestra's sixth LP is a dynamically grandiose, concept-driven masterpiece of an album. A thematic and sonic continuation of the band's incredible 2017 record A Black Mile to the Surface, The Million Masks of God utilizes subtle lyrical and melodic callbacks of its predecessor to evoke a sense of progression. Million Masks leads the listener through a lifelong journey, occasionally dipping out of physical reality and into the spiritual, the contemplative, and the abstract.

Honestly, I'm not sure where to begin. Maybe I need to start with a preface - do not let abstraction be a barrier to your enjoyment. Not this time. Because this time, abstraction does not get in the way of the album's beauty and emotion, in fact it has the opposite effect. 22, A Million's goosebump-inducing, staggering richness is exponentially increased in its glitches, pops, and chaotic moments. Wolf Alice's third full length LP is unpredictable, epic, and mesmerizing. Band leader Ellie Rowsell's powerhouse vocals are a sure-fire showstopper, but the band proves to have many layers and dimensions with engaging melodies, attention-grabbing lyrics, and remarkable full-album vision. What is this? A straight forward, non-plot driven pop record from the TOP boys? Wait wait wait! - you haven't listened to this album yet. Not really. While the record can easily be digested and enjoyed as a simple collection of upbeat and catchy alt-pop tunes, Scaled and Icy is every bit as conceptual and story-driven as anything the duo has released. More on this later. Sonically, the band's sixth record is somewhat of an outlier for the group - prominent electric guitars and radio-friendly ... read more

On The Off-Season, J. Cole presents a familiar sound with a new perspective, and further demonstrates his artistic legitimacy. The sonic direction of the conscious rapper's newest project draws parallels to a diverse range of artists, while its lyrical content showcases a more profound and introspective J. Cole than we have seen in recent years. While the hip-hop mogul doesn't possess the artistic vision of Kendrick Lamar or the rhythmic flow of J.I.D., J. Cole is in the limelight for good ... read more
