Ariana Grande - Dangerous Woman
79

Look, 2016 was a better year because of Ariana Grande releasing Dangerous Woman, and that’s just a cultural fact. The amount of fun in this album is insane. I do think there are some concepts that aren’t fully formed, but with Ariana’s vocals and melodies, with the help of Max Martin here and there, this album is pretty good. Arguably the album that cemented her icon status.

Gracie Abrams - The Secret of Us (Deluxe)
85

This review is referring to the four additional deluxe tracks. Honestly, these are fire. The way that Gracie has one of her biggest hits coming out of a deluxe edition of an already successful album shows that she’s on the ascent.

This is honestly such a great pop album. Charli really solidifies her bad girl character and sings about some seriously interesting and original content. The music itself is pretty futuristic, but in a progressive way. Charli XCX shows her capabilities of being an artist who releases pop hits. Short and to the point, but everything packs a punch.

Remi Wolf - Juno (Deluxe)
86

Honestly this deluxe exceeds expectations. It contains some of the best songs of the whole album and really packs a punch when you think there are no more punches packed. Her writing style stays true to her character and her production has never sounded better than here. An artist to be watched and appreciated.

Taylor Swift - Midnights

Deserved AOTY.

I think this extended version of SOS is, at first, hard to decide if this album is great or just really good. There are some amazing moments and then there are some just decent moments, which we don’t often see in SZA’s work. I do believe, just like with Taylor Swift’s ‘The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology,’ this was too much music. I am happy to have these songs, but I can’t help but wonder if there is a true story here, or just a culmination of ... read more

Sabrina Carpenter - Short n' Sweet (Deluxe)
84

These additional tracks do not compare to the original album tracks, and that’s okay. Sabrina instead shows up a direction she is heading toward lyrically and sonically. These tracks feel different enough to express Sabrina’s versatility and potential future endeavors. The Dolly Parton feature is arguably worse than Ice Spice on Karma though.

Lana Del Rey - Blue Banisters
79

The rawness and emotion felt throughout this album is exactly what we want from Lana, but the quality in sound has never been worse for her. This album is good, but I can only imagine what a little more time spent on the production could’ve done for the cohesion of this album. There is no solid world building here found in previous works, but there is magic in a handful of songs if you look closely. I don’t love her pulling from her catalogue for previously written songs, especially ... read more

Taylor Swift - Midnights (3am Edition)
89

These 7 additional tracks were the cherry on top of an already delicious and well frosted cake. The concept works as an EP/follow-up to the AOTY winner ‘Midnights’ in which we continue to stay up all night and ruminate over the past, wondering how it’s affecting the present.

Remi Wolf - Juno
85

Man, this album defined my sophomore year at college. Always played this during parties and it created the most lively atmosphere. There is so much personality packed into this record. On top of this, the emotion and rawness given by Remi leaves you feeling more connected to the art. Listening to this album is like taking an upper.

Doechii - Alligator Bites Never Heal
78

This is actually my first time listening to rap music and I think I picked such a great album and artist to introduce myself to it. This GRAMMY winner is a very creative piece of work and has so many highs as well as some simply decent moments that don’t make as much waves. Her flow is never lacking and I cannot wait for her next project.

Taylor Swift - Midnights (The Til Dawn Edition)
89

Hits Different was a hit. Lana feature was perfect and amazing. Ice Spice feature was great.

Caroline Polachek - Pang
82

This debut album by Caroline Polachek is phenomenal. Some of the most creative writing and production that proves Caroline to be a unit. The themes and organization of this album is incredibly well thought out and felt. Stunning vocally and instrumentally throughout. The only weak points are songs that feel as though they are placed more for the vibe of the project and less because of their individual strength.

88

This album is spectacular. The cohesion and flow is remarkable and addicting. Easy listening and danceable throughout. The complex amount of references and sampling really make this album what it is. The attention to detail and the focus on polishing sounds from the past to rewrite how history has been told is something only Beyoncé knows how to do correctly.

Caroline Polachek - Desire, I Want To Turn Into You: Everasking Edition
80

I think these deluxe tracks are very experimental and range from okay to great, with a few landing in the decent to good range. Not my favorite project by Caroline, but can respect the craft always.

Ariana Grande - eternal sunshine deluxe: brighter days ahead
86

This deluxe is great! The theming of ‘brighter days ahead’ to give it its own mini era was a very cool decision by Ari. Some solid tracks on here that are great additions to an already great album!

Lana Del Rey - Paradise
78

This EP is so strong on its own I believe it to be her second album. The ability Lana has when it comes to curating a vibe that has never been expressed before is unlike any other artist. This may be her weakest project, but it still is really good.

Beyoncé - COWBOY CARTER
83

Tells a extraordinary story with some incredibly powerful music that melt with the words and form 2024’s Album of the Year. While this is not usually a Beyoncé fan’s favorite album, it definitely can stand strong against allegations of being anything other than great. She sounds absolutely amazing and tells a story with true sentiment behind the voices.

Lady Gaga - MAYHEM
85

This album is Gaga’s most cohesive work to date. The combination of lyrical content and sound has never merged so beautifully for her before. I truly think she has reached a new peak in her career, and it looks like she’s cracked her code. Gaga is here to stay, and the AOTY nomination is completely valid. I think Gaga may even just take it, she’s definitely one of my top picks.

Adele - 30
85

This is such a raw piece of work. Adele opens her heart out and you see it in the writing and strong vocals. Definitely deserved the Grammy nomination for AOTY.
