Godspeed You! Black Emperor - 'Allelujah! Don't Bend! Ascend!

’Allelujah! Don’t Bend! Ascend! – Godspeed You! Black Emperor (2012)
8.2/10

’Allelujah! Don’t Bend! Ascend! feels like a huge return for Godspeed after their long break. The album still carries the massive, slow-building sound they’re known for, but it also feels structured in a very deliberate way, with the longer, explosive tracks balanced out by shorter drone and field recording pieces. The highlights on this album are incredibly strong, even if the ... read more

Yanqui U.X.O. – Godspeed You! Black Emperor (2002)
8.8/10

Yanqui U.X.O. feels like one of Godspeed’s most focused and direct albums. It leans heavily into long instrumental buildups and layered crescendos, but compared to some of their earlier work, it feels more stripped down and centered around the instrumentation itself. The album doesn’t rely as much on field recordings or spoken word moments, which makes the music feel more immediate and driven.

Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven – Godspeed You! Black Emperor (2000)
100/100

Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven is easily one of the most powerful and emotionally overwhelming albums I’ve ever heard. It feels massive in scope but still deeply personal at the same time. The album builds its ideas slowly and carefully, and every section feels like it exists for a reason. I honestly don’t see anything wrong with it. It’s beautiful, devastating, ... read more

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - F♯ A♯ ∞ [CD Version]

F♯ A♯ ∞ – Godspeed You! Black Emperor (1997)
90/100

F♯ A♯ ∞ feels more like an experience than a normal album. It has this heavy, almost apocalyptic atmosphere that pulls you in slowly and doesn’t really let go. The album takes its time building ideas, and that patience is what makes it so powerful. It feels less focused on individual songs and more focused on creating a mood that lasts the entire runtime.

What really stands out to me is how immersive it is. ... read more

Pretty good album from Weezer here.

Weezer - Pinkerton

Weezer did an excellent job capturing the defining sound that they had formed from their 1994 debut LP, whilst also giving this new album a fresh new idea of songwriting to bring to the table.

Weezer - Weezer (Blue Album)

One of the most feel-good albums ever. A timeless classic.

Cigarette Rushes And Bareknuckle Fistfights
- All Hallow (2023) | 7/10

Great EP from all hallow here, very underrated band, nothing bad to say about it except for that one moderately cringey “haha, sorry.” Part near the middle of ‘Worth It.’

Best track on here is easily Just U. It was so incredible I thought it was a cover which goes to show how much talent this band can bring to the table.

I’m excited to see more from this band in the near future.

Radiohead - A Moon Shaped Pool

A Moon Shaped Pool – Radiohead (2016)
9.5/10

A Moon Shaped Pool is easily one of Radiohead’s most emotional and carefully crafted albums, and it’s my second favorite from them. The entire record feels grand and important, but at the same time, it sounds fragile and broken. It’s one of their most emotionally heavy listens, but it never feels overwhelming or messy.

There are honestly zero misses on this album. Every track feels like it belongs and adds something to the ... read more
