Tyler, the Creator - Goblin
Jan 22, 2019

Tyler's major label solo debut is a rather controversial one. In many ways Goblin reminds me of early Eminem recods, It's aggressive and thrives on crude humor and shock value. Tyler's lyrics don't really bother me that much, they're quite entertaining with how hyperbolically violent they are even if it does feel maybe a bit to edgy at times. Other than that his delivery here is pretty good and his production is rather superb on some of these tracks. The beats are stripped down and basic but they still manage to hit hard and feel almost hypnotic. This album does drag on for way to long and does have really weak tracks that are just bad like "Fish" and "B.S.D.", the latter of which genuinely sounds like a Froggy Fresh song.

Best Track: Yonkers
Worst Track: B.S.D.
