Flashback to late 2016. Things started to change a lot in my life and I've gained a lot of free time that I didn't know what to do with. Fortunately my favorite band Linkin Park was about the drop a new album and I spend a lot of time following their updated and reading interviews. One of them had Mike Shinoda mentioned some people that he has worked with, one of listed was Corin Roddick. I was like why not so I checked the stuff from all those names, but nothing really interested me. Until I ... read more

It's Dinosaurs time! (mostly). In this album the band rounded the Phanerozoic eon talking about its 2nd and 3rd periods Mesozoic and Cenozoic, so from the age of Dinosaur to the current time.
Musically it's surprisingly quite different from Phanerozoic I. If you are expecting their super sludgy and proggy sound you will be probably disappointed, except like two heavy songs it's mostly really chill and psychedelic. While I clearly prefer Ph1 I think they did an amazing job with this one too, I ... read more

In this 2nd part of the double album titled Anthropocentric continues The Ocean’s critique of Christianity. This album focuses on the Christian view that the Earth is at the center of the universe (which is called Anthropocentrism). Musically this album is way more heavier and intense but still with their distinct melodic touch which suits this band a lot more. Also it's clearly more cohesive and consistent than the first half, every song feels like it fills its role perfectly.

2010 was the year when The Ocean became an actual band with the first real line-up including the current vocalist Loïc Rossetti. The first release was a double concept album about the critique of Christianity, this is the 1st part which focuses around the rise heliocentrism (the idea that the Earth revolves around a static sun). Starting from how and when everything begun according to the bible and ending it with questioning who's the creator of God. Referencing works from literature ... read more

My expectations were sky high for this album and it didn't disappoint at all. While it can't come close to TTS and especially Sempiternal this album has almost everything that makes music great for me: great vocals, catchy melodies and endlessly replayable. Though I wished there was more focus on the guitar playing, there's barely any riffs present.
Favorites: wonderful life, MANTRA, i don't know what to say, sugar honey ice & tea, nihilist blues (would have been a 10/10 without Grimes), ... read more
