After 11 years Portishead finally released their 3 album and it does feel like a complete different band. There not much resemblance of their iconic Trip Hop sound here, but instead they've gone full on experimental rock with more focus on individual tacks rather than the overall atmosphere of the album. It reaches from big tribal drum heavy tunes to even a super happy ukulele based interlude.
Overall a really good album but definitely lacks the catchieness and the unique atmosphere of their ... read more

I love the song Alchemy Alice but sadly when I listened to the whole thing I wasn't impressed at all. Mostly because I wasn't a fan of the really raw sounding production at all, especially the guitar distortion sound completely terrible. Also felt that a lot of songs go nowhere, there's no proper building up or big climaxes whatsoever. The singer has a really great voice though.

Love Lights but this ain't it sorry. This house/techno style is way too repetitive and boring for me.

Not really a fan of this. All the tracks sound the same and loop forever, completely uninteresting (there's even extended versions...). I was expecting HANA to sing more, but she's barely present here lol.

This band is highly regarded in the prog metal scene and I do appreciate their interesting sound, but idk they never clicked with me. The riffs and drumming are fun, but I can't stand the vocals if I'm being honest. They sound completely out of place and can't really connect with the melodies at all too, though I prefer the occasional screaming way more.
It's hard to rate this because it's definitely far from generic, but I just can't see myself enjoying this.

Despite liking some of her singles (especially the earlier stuff) I never really listened to any of her albums in full so this is my first one and I need to say it's totally boring. The songwriting is completely uninteresting without a single memorable chorus and those beats sound totally dated (in a really bad and uninspired way). The vocals are fine but that's pretty much it.
Stand outs: Enigma and Stupid Love (the only song where that drop chorus thing works and doesn't sound super ... read more

Sure I can't deny that her brand of pop might have become a bit stale over the time, this is another fun project.
Favorites: braindead, TV and running.

In her debut album (that somehow it's a self-titled like the EP too) Elohim continues sharing her struggles with really authentic pop. Sometimes it's banging, bright and danceable like the highlights "Sleepy Eyes", "Half Love" and "I Want You", and other time it's sad and dark but still having a sense of optimism like "Insecure" and "Panic Attacks". Though while this project might be less consistent and cohesive than her debut, it's pretty much ... read more

This EP was one of the first things I discovered when I was just getting into pop music. While songwriting wise it might be really basic and repetitive and her voice isn't that impressive neither something about this project is so captivating and honest.
Favorites: Xanax (really dark song lyrically), Sensations, She Talks Too Much and Bridge and the Wall.

Reinventing my ass, this is just bad. Especially the vocals are completely terrible and overproduced af, easily some of the worst I've ever heard in this genre (both the clean and screams), can't see why this band is so overhyped. Some of the mathy breakdowns are nice but those vocals kill everything for me.

The ultimate example why lyrics don't matter in music... But for real this album is incredible, especially the vocals are out of this world. The melodies are so unique and catchy (and those harmonies ugh) like they will hypnotize with the very first note (even before listening to them I was obsessed with Teardrop by Massive Attack with the singer's vocals). The way it blends with the music gives it like an otherworldly experience that makes don't want to wake up from. Her voice in general is ... read more

As a huge Linkin Park fan all I can say is fuck this release, this is simply just a cash grab nothing else. I mean just read all the shitty press from the guy behind this thing Sean Dowdell and how he spend the whole time talking shit about LP members (especially Mike) and the fans (insulting them on twitter for saying it's only about money), also the ridicules amount of different cd/vinyl bundles ect.
Musically speaking, I knew about this band since I started listening to LP and I always ... read more

The core world has always been split into two camps: the more pop focused metalcore/post-hardcore/easycore stuff and then there are the Meshuggah worshipers aka the djent/deathcore department which are mostly about the technicality consistent of endless chains of breakdowns. This album is like the definition of the djent category, not much focus on any songwriting aspects whatsoever. Most songs follow the exact same formula which isn't a bad thing but memorable or exciting is barely any song ... read more

Really good follow up of their great debut, that stills capture all the unique aura that made their music special while adding even more dark elements (seriously the whole things could work as a soundtrack for an old school horror thriller or something).
Favorites: All Mine, Undenied, Humming, Seven Months, Over and Cowboys.

Just like Ludens, it does a fantastic job at mixing every good aspect of their music and create a hell of a banger.

Unlike the other two albums, I fell in love with this one immediately. Sure it's a lot more straightforward compared to the them but it's definitely not so formulaic and basic like many similar stuff form the early 2000s nu-metal/post-grunge era. They took those influences and made a really in-your-face yet super creative album and I love every single bit of it. The bangers hit hard and the more proggy stuff is so well done, but my favorite thing are those incredible vocals, so full of energy ... read more

This album took me a long time to get into it's really experimental, like really. The songs reach from really chaotic to chill and atmospheric, sometimes even multiple times during a single song! Though while the transitions are great can't say I'm a fan of most interludes
While it might be my least favorite Karnivool album, it's definitely one of the most interesting albums I've ever heard.
Favorites: We Are, Nachash, Eidolon, Alpha Omega, Sky Machine, Aeons and A.M. War.

I used to think this was great and creative pop, boy I was wrong. Still like some songs but I would never bother listening to this thing again, especially the try hard aesthetic makes me cringe now.

The most straightforward Starset album when it comes to the genre bending and space rock "epicness" they're known for. Most songs don't shift from the standard modern rock formula with the occasion of adding long mostly spoken words interludes, but it works wonderfully.
Favorites: Antigravity, Halo, Telescope, My Demons and Dark on Me.

Can't say anything negative about this album, it's definitely creative and shows Braids once again doing their own thing but it's just can't touch Deep in the Iris for me. Though the more organic indie rock feel helps especially the drums to shine way more, I can imagine Austin killing it in some metal band, dude is a beast. Also their lyrics might be once again a bit too hipstery for me but I never really listened to them because of them in the first place.
Overall a great and consistent ... read more
