With 2020 being a fantastic year for music to me, I came into 2021 fully expecting myself to not enjoy as much music as I did in 2020. I think this was due to most of my favorite artists releasing albums last year, so I wasn't anticipating as many albums as I did in 2020. However, as 2021 progressed, I realized how wrong I was because 2021 was another fantastic year for music. There were many new artists/bands I didn't discover until this year, with some of my favorites I found this year being Magdalena Bay, Jail Socks, Genesis Owusu, Little Simz, Turnstile, Squid, and Olivia Rodrigo.

For this list, I do have a few rules:
1. I don't have a limit on how many songs an artist can have on this list. However, I do have another list I made where I only allow one song per artist, so there's more of a variety. 2. Songs released as singles in 2020, but are on albums released in 2021 are only eligible for this list if they weren't on my list from last year.
3. Any single released in 2021 or any song on an album released in 2021 is eligible for this list.
4. Non-singles are in the description.
5. New rule: Taylor Swift's re-recordings of her original songs are not eligible for this list, but her songs from the vault are eligible since they were previously unreleased.

Taylor Swift

All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor's Version)2021

"All Too Well" has always been my favorite Taylor Swift song and also one of my all-time favorite songs. Considered her magnum opus by many of her fans and myself, I didn't think there was anything that could top the original. Taylor proves me wrong by releasing this 10 minute version and taking us all on an emotional ride through her incredible storytelling that makes you actually feel like you're right there with her. I normally am not a huge fan of long songs, but the pacing in the song is so wonderfully done that it doesn't feel drawn out. I had no doubt in my mind this would be my song of the year for 2021.
