ok but k-12 slaps tbh ngl tbh

Actual Review:
Melanie Martinez is a singer/songwriter born in Astoria, Queens but raised in Baldwin, New York, and she is one of the weirdest artists to blow up in the past few years.

She initially auditioned for The Voice, which made her Toxic by Britney Spears cover viral, and caught the eye of many record labels, who were fascinated by her intriguing voice.

Her debut single, Dollhouse, was released on the 9th of February 2014 to big success, becoming a radio hit, and certified platinum by the RIAA. She followed that up with the Dollhouse EP and the single, Carousel, both released on the same day, with Carousel being certified platinum, and with the Dollhouse EP peaking at number 4 on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart.

She released her debut full-length studio album, Crybaby, on August 15 2015, to commercial success. debuted at number 6 on the Billboard 200 charts, debuted at the top of the Alternative Albums Chart, and was certified platinum in February 24 2017.

Then the storm struck... On December 4, 2017, Timothy Heller alleged via Twitter that Martinez had sexually assaulted and raped her. That caused some of her fans to turn on her, some even burning her merch that they bought, cussing her out in these videos. No solid proof has been released, with some even pointing out some sketchy things about Heller's statement. Even though there wasn't enough proof of Melanie raping Timothy, she wasn't given the chance to speak out, people weren't listening, her career was already ruined, thanks to some statement that could be wrong or right.

She took a break from everything to focus on herself and her mental health.

Melanie was teasing for a new project, and a movie to accompany it. She was teasing way back since 2016, writing some the lyrics in a caption of and Instagram picture. Ms. Martinez began recording the album in 2015 and finished in 2017. It was originally set to be released in the fall of 2017. However, it was later pushed back to early 2019.

K-12 was released leaked on the 1st of September, and was released officially on the 6th, with no singles.

The album is set in Cry Baby's school and is told from her perspective. Cry Baby is stepping outside of her family life and love life and acting like a narrator for the album.

The album may sound sweet and innocent, but it's not. The themes on here are pretty dark; pedophilia, cheating etc. But according to @oh, it makes sense in the movie, which I haven't watched yet.

And the fact that she made a pretty lengthy movie, not a short-film, you need respect the effort, even if you don't like the music.

but High School Sweethearts...omfg.
