May we all, in 2023, continue to root for indie artists.
This year, Canadian alternative band What Is Your Name? released "beyond old names, everyone's songs.". For 51 minutes, folk rock, Midwest emo and chamber pop will fill the room.

Every player here does a pretty good job with the attention put on both percussion and bass lines being particularly neat. Both instruments have moments where they shine on this album, providing pretty cool stuff.

The mixing is well-handled minus the work done on the few vocal performances. While the voice itself sound good, it should have been mixed so we could hear it more properly. As is, the voice is a bit too quiet. I also had some issues with how long some songs could be or how familiar it could have sounded at times but overall, this record was made by talented people. A solid effort.

Great review! I think the vocals are mixed that way because it’s meant to be dream pop, sort of like how shoegaze has fuzzy, lo-fi vocals that are hard to distinguish. Though I understand not liking em

@Dalton I guess I understand it when you put it that way. In a way, some reverb probably could have fixed the volume issue I've had.

@mmartin Yeah someone told me it was a side project from an artist called 2 0 2 1. I wasn't sure if he had made it all by himself but if that's the case, I'll correct my review. Thks for telling me
