I came to this record slightly skeptic about it because I've never been a huge fan of Big Thief's material, but I can describe "songs" in the same way I described Matt Berninger's last album: simplicity will always win for me. Here we have just Adrianne and her guitar, and the result is astonishing.
Even though I keep listening to records and records everyday, I was in a weird spot where everything I heard felt not sizing perfectly with my actual personal state of mind. Loyle Carner made me feel somewhat pure, a feeling I was catching for so long. And I can't thank him enough for that.
This is the first good album i listened this year and oh boy the energy these guys have, it's incredible. Maybe a little bit too rough, but I'm so happy that i've found this band and I hope for more to come in the future.
This record has something really really special going on track by track. The production is out of this world and all the vocals seems to be precisely studied to be perfect here. An album that everyone should listen to at a certain point of its life.
