the flow of this album is insane, the songwriting is fantastic, and i love the piano-led nature of JTG’s entire discography but it rocks especially hard here once you take away the electronic aspects of the albums that followed this one
fully agree with DrumNKeys here, Ben’s songs outdo Tommy’s in this album, but every one of Ben’s songs hits so hard and that makes this album one of my favorites by jukebox the ghost
it’s okay to listen to leaks when the band leaks it themselves! needless to say this album will be streamed countless times on spotify and listened to many times on vinyl. i love this band so much and am so happy for them releasing their first lp. the production on this the best it’s ever been and the songwriting is super amazing as well. i love this album!
this is one of those albums that took a really long time to hit and then it did and i LOVE it now
i’m gonna have to sit on this one for a little bit
edit: this is the most i’ve changed a rating ever
not awful by any means, just inconsistent and really doesn’t know what it wants to be. got some bangers on here though, just no true direction
i didn’t like this all that much at first, but now i have no clue what i was thinking
a very different direction for the boys, but they fucking ROCK it. this album is a lot more direct with its message and focus than iridescence, and very much a return to form. i can see my score getting even better with subsequent listens, but i really see this album as super special and insanely well done.
some bands take a while to find their true style, and car seat headrest is one of those bands. the style and quality they have found with this album and the 2018 version of twin fantasy turned them from a fairly well known lofi band to modern rock ICONS. this and twin fantasy are both perfect albums, their latest live album is amazing, and i can’t see what CSH does next!
this album is SO good, have yet to decide if i like this or freudian more but this is just so freaking solid. i don’t love complexities or the opener all that much but everything else slaps so hard
i adored all of the singles but the rest of the album just doesn’t quite compare in my opinion. also for some reason i just find the duets so cheesy, i really just can’t get behind them
i liked this a little more than i thought i would, but regardless i really don’t think i like this sound/direction remo drive is going toward now. they went from one of the best emo records in a long time to a pretty forgettable pop rock album this time around
even though it’s taken from multiple different tour dates it is engineered and put together seamlessly. teens of denial and twin fantasy are two of my favorite albums of all time so there was no way this wasn’t going to be amazing, but they blew my expectations out of the water. also, that ivy cover though
edit: removing the rating from this because i don’t want to interfere with the rest of my 2019 list but it’s a solid 88/100
