In Shoegaze circles Blackgaze is considered a screaming abomination.
While Black Metal purists consider Blackgaze soft and unworthy.

What a fucking mess.

Deafheaven, Alcest & Lantlôs have surely seen and felt this and rather than running away in fear from the narrow mindedness have seized an opportunity to lean against it and chain their very artistry to the restraints of gatekeeping just so these bands can in turn smash the gates clean off their hinges, leaving the doors wide open ... read more

On the back of several years of acoustical tours and the 2011 Songbook album we find Chris Cornell at his most balanced musically and galvanised within this newly rounded elder singer-songwriter approach.

Kicking off with hooky mandolin ‘Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart’ leaves some evidence that something was learned from Chris’s Timberland album and that the former collab was not entirely in vein but a stepping stone to here - Higher Truth.

‘Dead Wishes’ balances ... read more

In some ways The Pretty Reckless were well ahead of the game in 2010 offering a concise debut with just 10 tracks and a 34 minute album. The debut from The Pretty Reckless is a pretty enjoyable 80s styled rock album with some great riffs and promising vocals. Opener ‘My Medicine’ with slide guitar is decent and leaves expectations as vague as it’s conclusions while ‘Since You’re Gone’ has a sense of fist-pumping pub rock enhanced by a wild-eyed lyrical ... read more

An album that could have been even better by cutting a couple of tracks.

50 minutes for an album of this nature these days is just too long imo. Complaints out of way. Here’s a road worn tour band formed in 1994 and the album kicks off with Janes addiction vibes on ‘All Who Wander’ ‘Something Like This’ gives some Nirvana unplugged vibes in the second half wrapping the song up with strings-everything opens up with brash punk energy and Soundgardenesque riffs on ... read more

I’ve always said that these guys remind me of peak The Offspring <smashing forward with 90s skate punk riffs that will make you want to drive fast windows down and throw your cheeseburger out the window directly into oncoming traffic faster than you can say Michael Douglas on your short lockdown commute>

Yes Fred Durst and Limp Bizkit are back but you should be listening to Turnstile!
Sad times deserve fun rhymes and kids need something to yell along to and here ... read more

The heavy Shoegaze approach is evident from the opening seconds of ‘Waves’ followed by ‘In The Den’ with the ripple effect reaching fans of Deftones and heavy rock alike.

What was not evident was Hum releasing a new album! Their first in over 22 years years just dropped from the skies, surprise!

When ‘Desert Rambler’ hits I get the familiar tingle of 90s Soundgarden and all of a sudden I’m reminded of why stoner rock and metal actually works-the ... read more

Hey Mate,
Just wondering if you were able to contribute to a list by @CamDoesMusic and @truthfulreviews based upon your 10 favourite 90's albums. This would work through you messaging myself a list from 1 being the best and 10th being the 10th best album you have listened to from the 90's. If you are able to contribute with a quote summarising the particular album as well that would be awesome! Your information delivered to us will be used to create a list named "AOTY Users Favourite 90's Albums".

Hey Mate,
I am currently making a list compacted with AOTY user' top 10 worst albums and would love for you to contribute to that. The information if you decide to share will be used to create "The Average AOTY Users worst album" consisting of 50 albums. If you feel comfortable contributing please mention your top 10 worst albums in order from 1 being the worst and 10 being the 10th worst. It would also be highly appreciated if you are ok to give a few words why as well :)

Thank You So Much Have A Good Day!

I'm bored and so decided to make another community list; this time...

What is a record you believe has defined its genre albeit through shaping said genre, or has established said genre in popularity and/or existence, and why?

Hey, I hope you're doing well.

I'm making a list where, judging by AOTY users' individual top ten albums, I'm compiling a ranked community top 100. I'd love it if you could contribute by just replying with your top ten ranked from 1-10; I'm totally fine with being redirected to a ranked favourites list of sorts, if that's what you'd prefer.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read this and replying, if you do.
