LPs and EPs are, without a doubt, the most we can get out of an artist generally, but the singles released before their official debuts are what make us aware of them in the first place. They give us a sneak peek at what's to come, and usually, when the moment arrives, it's history-making. So, here is Blad's favorite to least favorite singles to come out of Planet 2021, with Silk Sonic, Taylor Swift & Olivia Rodrigo dominating the top 5 with their legendary BLAD-certified 100/100-rated singles.

Silk Sonic - Leave the Door Open
With their harmonic, silky smooth sound, Silk Sonic scores big time on this ranked list with their alluring March 2021 single, "Leave the Door Open". The whole song itself is a sweet treat to all, and it is, in my opinion, one of the best love songs to have ever been produced.

Honorable Mention: The "smooth like a newborn" line!
Silk Sonic - Leave the Door Open (Live)
Honestly, I think the live version is more deserving of the #1 spot instead of the original single, but I feel like people should listen to the studio version first so that they can be mind-blown by the live version (plus, the original should just be listed first anyway).

Released on April 2, 2021, after their first-ever live performance on television at the 63rd Annual GRAMMY Awards ceremony, Silk Sonic's live single of "Leave the Door Open" adds so much more flair to what was already a magnificent song, and oh boy, it is remarkably magical. I'm extremely excited to see where the duo is headed, and I cannot wait to hear their silky smooth sound once more.

Honorable Mention: THAT ending.
Taylor Swift - Love Story (Taylor's Version)
Taylor Swift's updated version of "Love Story" is also a magical single, and it's extremely nostalgic for those who grew up during her "Fearless" era. With some added minuscule details and an enhanced EVERYTHING, this re-recorded song is phenomenal upon first listen and all listens after. Swift's mature vocals are the main highlight, making the track sound more solid than ever.

Honorable Mention: "...'cause you were ro-me-OH / I was a scarlet letter..."
Olivia Rodrigo - drivers license
At 17 [going on 18] years old, Olivia Rodrigo became a worldwide superstar within a week after the official release of her debut single "drivers license". And as a 17-year-old myself AND a Filipino, sobrang yabang ko!!

Every aspect of this song is flawlessly emotional, with Rodrigo's vocals and the melancholic production confidently leading the way. This single eventually led up to her debut album "SOUR", which is one of my favorite albums of the year as well.

Honorable Mention: The "duh-dun" right before the bridge (I don't know what else to call it at the moment lol).
