Björk - Utopia

Every time the chorus of 'Saint' happens, I picture Pocahontas waving goodbye to Joseph Smith and the wind follows her wave and safely returns his ship to Europe. Utopia is that wind.

'Arisen My Senses' has to be one of the most incredible songs I have ever heard. It sounds like an organic explosion, utilizing the most electronic sounding things in nature and pairing them with the most natural sounding things in electronic music. It functions like a sonic petal dance, an explosion of flowers and light. It is the song I wanted from Björk the entire time; She could shake the entire earth with her voice.

I love every Björk project, but Utopia holds a special place in my heart. I do think 'Arisen My Senses' is one of the best songs ever; it is so magic and special and incredible I can't write intelligently about it. There are so many moments on this album I love: the spacious world presented in 'The Gate,' the flute introduction of 'Utopia,' THE BOBCAT GROWLING NOISE IN 'BODY MEMORY.' I think it is some of Björk's greatest ideas all on one album. The ONLY critique of this album is you can hear the Arca influence. This isn't bad, but it does have the fingerprint of someone else besides Björk. It is still amazing!
