I always found this album better than Hot Fuss. Hot Fuss obviously is iconic and has to be up there in any giant list of "best debut albums", but Sam's Town always felt more appealing to my ear. It truly showcases Brandon's songwriting and the influence of the Vegas desert on the lyrics.

A fun thrillride. Some tracks were forgettable/skippable, but overall a lot of fun.

Definitely a banger of an album. You can knock the second half but they aren't garbage, just not as strong as the first half for sure. It does prevent this album from getting into the 90+ range for me though.
Smile Like You Mean It
I'm probably biased because the album came out during my formative years, but it still hits so hard. I get there isn't some of the same rawness as the older DCFC records, but there really aren't any skippable tracks on this record.
