Muse - Unravelling

I feel like this would've been a more natural evolution of their sound than simulation theory. Slightly political lyrics? Cyberpunk is a great narrative setting for that. Cool distortion effects? I guess just go full djent on us. Overall, I'm just happy I can genuinely like a modern muse song without kinda wincing.

Fall Out Boy - Love From The Other Side

Didn’t think I'd hear a good FOB song post 2008 (well at least one that was actually on an album). The video definitely has a lot of the rock godisms that they have rolled with since Save Rock and Roll, Pete Wentz still looks as punchable as always, and Joe is canonically a furry now. So par for the course when it comes to them.

But video aside, I think the return to using symphonic arrangements was a good idea. Patrick Stump has been doing lots of soundtracks in between Mania and now. ... read more

Gil Scott-Heron and Brian Jackson - Bridges

Love this project. I haven’t heard much from Gil Scott-Heron aside from his classic “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised”, same goes for Brain Jackson. But despite this, I feel like this album was a great introduction to the both of them.

The music here is just incredible, and this excels at making the sound of every track distinct with a varied amount of instrumentation, synths modes, and colors. “Racetrack in France” gets real FUNKY with its immediate phasered ... read more

Zolo

I really do love a lot of songs off this project. At its best this album is able to use very minimal instrumentation to craft uncanny songs, only the bare essentials are needed to carry these tracks. One example that comes to mind is "Fifth Colum", this song fills the soundscape from the get-go with those dark synths, along with some higher sci-fi sounding ones in the chorus to really give an alien vibe to the track. But what I find really cool is the bass and how it plays off ... read more

Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood post punk? If this can happen, then maybe we’ll finally get the experimental Thom Yorke hip hop album we’ve all (me) been waiting for.

Noah Yorke - Trying Too Hard (Lullaby)

Oh, look at little Thom Yorke Jr. You gonna cry? (It’s a very good song I apologize.)

Edit: I have now realized the error of my ways, I am sorry Noah https://youtu.be/Pix_kckqSOc?t=65

Pitbull - Hotel Room Service
100

Pitball, a thirty-something man living in New York, eludes intimacy with women but feeds his deepest desires with a compulsive addiction to sex. When his younger sister temporarily moves into his apartment, stirring up bitter memories of their shared painful past, Pitball's life, like his fragile mind, gets out of control.

ldybyrdd - RC 1 (Seals in a lab)

Celeste type beat

The main progression of the song is very cutesy and comfortable, and that pretty much goes for the rest of the elements of this track. But I do think there could have been some changes to how the song is arranged that could improve the track. Near the 3 minute mark the song reaches point of silence that the only thing you can hear is the bass, and then it goes right back into the chorus. However, instead of going right into the chorus, why not pay off the disassemblement of ... read more

Denzel Curry - Bad Luck

The riff on this song is approaching Beverly Hills levels of laziness. Maybe try playing more than 3 notes Denzel?

“Mexicans and Blacks and Jews
