Honestly, one of the best musical moments, and just one of the best moments I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Good job Mathew, and happy b day charlise!
Even though I prefer the faster and cleaner produced version of these songs on doppelganger, I still love this album.
The slower tempo on the album gives songs like "F.C.P.S.I.T.S.G.E.P.G.E.P.G.E.P" (Long I know) a much more different feel that makes these songs worth while compared to their doppelganger counterparts.
The album also has songs that weren't remixed for doppelganger that are great just the way they are. Songs like "Rockstar Nailbomb!", "The Circus ... read more
The guitar work done by Thomas Erak on this record is nothing short of incredible. Furthermore, his singing brings a very youthful and extremely fun tone to the album. Tim Ward also kills it on the bass and back up screaming that greatly contrasts with Thomas's guitar work and singing on the album. And along with all of that, Andrew Forsman's drum work keeps the songs tempo up with his high energy playing.
And when it comes to the actual songs themselves, my personal favorites would ... read more
This is the first poppy record that I've ever listened to. Before this album came out, I wasn't really that interested in any of things I've heard from her in the past, but when I heard she did pop metal fusion on this album, I had to check out if she could actually fuse these two very different genres together. As you can already tell based on my rating , I don't think she did that great of a job.
Now don't get me wrong, there are some good songs and moments on this album that do the more ... read more
Even though this album is clearly unfinished, and would benefit greatly from a remaster, I still think this album is one of weezer's best works.
One complaint I do have with the album though is that the space theme doesn't really fit in with the story, it sort of just pops in here and there in the album to remind you that HEY THIS IS A SPACE ALBUM WOOWOW.
This is still a great album though, and I would love to see an official release of the album.
This is by far avenade's best project. It's filled with catchy bangers like the fight club inspired "closed fists and battle antics", and there's some slow shoegaze tracks like "Over the windbreak/Bloom". The singing on this album is really awesome, my favorite example of this is on the track "Just smile and wave, boys". Honestly this is a must listen if you're a fan of noise rock, shoegaze, or just indie projects in general.
First of all, I love how explosive the introduction to this song is, and how it leads into the first verse where the drums get to shine. Avenade's vocal delivery on the verses is sort of a kin to a preacher, which works well with the religious themes in the lyrics. Overall cool track and I can't wait for the new album : ).
Also damn he really got us with that "surprise me" at the end lol.
Even in the beginning, Kiss Kiss went crazy hard, and Joshua Benash sounded like he was in ecstasy every time he sang. To be serious though, this ep is great. It's filled with great violin work, as always with all of their records. It also has has quite a few different instruments than what they would usually play on other albums. There's flute and brass on some of the songs, this makes for some cool and different instrumental than what you would hear on their other stuff. So, in ... read more
Kiss kiss's Reality Vs. the Optimist is one of my favorite albums of all time.
This album for one has some amazing violin work from Rebecca Schlappich. It gives the album and really the band a very distinct and unique sound. Josh Benash also gives some great delivery with the vocals on this album. He can go from soft and ominous to loud and exciting, he is very dynamic and brings a lot of emotion to his singing.
This record also tackles many subjects like the loss of a loved one, the ... read more
This album has great lyricism and has a sound that I really have never heard. The lyrics on songs like "you stole" and "At the bottom" are packed with a lot of spite and bitterness. And the sound on songs like "Be gone" and "Vices" has to be the most experimental they ever had. The album has a lot of heavy songs too like "I a jar" and "sink". This honestly is the bands most experimental album and one of their best.
This, in my opinion, is fall out boys peak in sound and lyricism. With strong tracks like "Coffee's for closers" and really soft and powerful tracks like "Donnie what a catch". The album tackles many themes of identity, drug use, and the loss of love in songs like "Headfirst slide into Coopersville town on a bad bet" and "27". And to end it all off fall out boy gives us one of their best songs to date "west coast smokers" with its great ... read more
