Slowdive’s debut album is astounding and happens to my favorite in their discography. What sets the record apart for me in regards to their other projects is it’s incredible and unrelenting atmosphere. Every song on Just for a Day is superb in it's own way, but within the context of the album, forms an astonishing aura. There is hardly is misstep to be found on here if any at all. The overall sound of the record is especially warm and dreamy and each track manages to flow incredibly well. It’s warm and dreamy sound is displayed not only by way of the instrumentation, but the vocals as well. If you decide to delve deep into the lyricism however, you’ll that much of its content focuses on either love or suicide. While it may be melancholic beneath the surface, that doesn’t hinder on the album’s entrancing abilities. Just for a Day is beautiful with its spell-binding, textured instrumentation and dreamy, light-as-air guitars. This is an album you can feel move through you and it’s sound is as soothing as waterfalls.
