atmospheric black metal / black metal
white-hot tremolo riffs that sound like they could go on forever. an inhumanly fast drum machine hammering out nonstop blastbeats. sparse, distant howls emanating from another plane. this is black metal distilled to its absolute purest essence
EDIT: god this sounds so nerdy reading it back but whatever its accurate!!!

i discovered this at random while digging around blogspots shortly after it was released. after a seemingly promising, short, quiet, cello(?) intro (probably a sample), i was immediately FLOORED by a blaze of warm and intensely melancholic tremolo riffs, subtle droning blastbeats, and strangely audible bass in the form of the second track, "Jählings naht ein Schrecknis an" which had a pretty profound effect on me. "Wurmestugend" is the other track that destroys me every time i hear it, and the only reason this album doesn't have a 100 is because the other tracks are just sliiiiightly under the par set by those two. what i get from this album is melancholy: melancholy of a very particular and special kind that i can't specifically identify
unfortunately it seems like the few other people that have heard this album have for the most part not had the same experience, judging by the VERY lukewarm average and distinct lack of glowing reviews it has on this site. the disparity between my appreciation of this album and the general public's response to it is so great that it makes me question my sanity
please, people, listen to this and validate my inordinately positive opinion

folk black metal / atmospheric black metal / dissonant black metal
fantastic "Southern Gothic Black Metal" album that takes a wide range of black metal influences - traditional bm, atmospheric bm, and even more experimental dissonant bm - and incorporates influence from american folk music. this results in some absolutely breathtaking riffs, banjo and steel guitar highlights, and folky clean-sung melodic sections that come together to create a very impressive and unique sound. Panopticon fans (and Black Candle Wax fans lol) will definitely want to check this out

really fantastic melodic raw bm with lots of passionate, romantic vibes and interesting synth fuckery. featuring the founder of Grime Stone records i believe, who i'm pretty sure is a communist, so a bonus point there heh
from the bandcamp:
"no renaissance, my home is in the dark ages.
haunted threads will entangle you, and banished from thine chamber pot
keep away, for you know not the unfathomable deeps of the wells in which we dwell"

black metal
a 40 minute live recording of completely improvised black metal, with one person playing all the instruments SIMULTANEOUSLY. and it sounds GREAT! probably has something to do with the fact that it's Ephemeral Domignostika of MASTERY.
the guitar is played with his hands and the drums are played with his feet, + vocals.
