With Surfaces new album dropping soon, I feel like its a good time to review their most recent album "Pacifico" so I can go straight into Hidden Rooftops.
Coming off of their 3rd studio LP "Horizons" I was kind of worried what was coming next for Surfaces because Horizons was just awful. Everybody at one point has cried to a song before. Some songs bring an element of relatability while others create a saddening/emotional story. This album has all of that for me and its why I'm so attached to it. This was a whole different experience from TPAB or good kid m.A.A.d city and comparing it to those two albums just doesn't do this LP justice. I don't think CMIGYL is Tyler's best work, but I would be so damn wrong to not call this Tyler's most impressive body of work so far. IGOR is a perfect album to me, so I really didn't know what to expect with CMIYGL and Tyler really outdid himself again. It's incredible how he continues to push the boundaries.

IGOR is a masterpiece. Each element of this LP is fine tuned to perfection and its produced by entirely Tyler again. You definitely have to relisten to this a few times to fully appreciate it, but that's a good thing because it gets better each time. There are definitely going to be some fans that are disappointed in the stylistic change in IGOR, but its executed so well and the quality of this album deserves to be appreciated more.

I think its pretty clear that Flower Boy is where we see Tyler mature musically because GAH DAMN THIS ALBUM IS SO FUCKING GOOD. Flower Boy to me is a very special album because its the first album where I listened to the entire thing in order.
