I want to offer up a scenario: A normal guy works a normal 9-5 job. Growing up he liked Kanye music and listened to a lot of Kanye's most classing albums. College Dropout, Graduation, MBDTF... those were on rotation day after day. He likes Kanye music. It's fun. Anyways, this guy gets home from work. Any maybe he has kids and maybe he's got some shit going on in his life. Anyways, he doesn't really use social media. He doesn't have instagram, or snapchat, and he's not ... read more
So, I'll keep this review brief. The first time I heard this album I thought it was so terrible. I was ready to give it a 2/10 and move on but the second time I listened I was like "wait, maybe this is a vibe." The third time solidified the idea that this album has at least some strong moments and redeeming qualities.
If we're talking negatives, it's the same as the original: Kid Cudi is the biggest problem. He is monotone and boring and I still ... read more
There is a lot of discussion about whether this album is actually new and interesting or if it is just a continuation of sounds already over satirized and already done well, more well than this. I'd argue both. It absolutely sounds like something you've already heard. Someone in the comments mentioned 'Bright Eyes' and I hear it 100%. But at the end of the day, these are a fresh batch of songs created by a fresh batch of ... read more
I have heard a few damn good MGMT songs. So I see they're releasing an album and I'm like "cool, I'm excited for this." But honestly... this project is not great. I would call it fine. I would call it maaaybe good, but nothing better.
'Loss of Life' starts out pretty sleepily, to be frank. 'Mother Nature,' 'Dancing in Babylon,' and 'People in The Streets' are relatively forgettable tracks. It is here that I realized maybe we were going in a different direction than much ... read more
Here we are, 'Astroworld.' Easily one of the most iconic, recognizable, and popular albums of my generation. Its release in 2018 was all I head for a good few months in highschool, whether it be people's speakers, the school bus radio, spirit events, youtube videos, etc. etc. etc.... it is rare a song ever grows as popular as 'SICKO MODE' did, and even with Travis's newest record, I don't see a song becoming close to as popular, not even 'FEIN.' So, I knew a ... read more
Quadeca drops his much awaited release after the spectacular but depressing 'IDMTHY.' After an album so large and so sure of itself, it makes sense that Quadeca would release an album with much less bang. In fact, this isn't actually an album, but a mixtape of a bunch of 'scraps' Quadeca has been putting together over the last few months. And, they go really hard. It seems Quadeca is fully realizing himself in this experimental hip-hop, art pop, folktronica ... read more
