Jack of all trades, master of none. This album, if we can call it that, is an amalgamation of artistic expression with no regard for substance and meaning. It lacks congruence, pertinence of different genres, and cohesion. Half of the "songs" don't feel like songs whatsoever, but just pretentious noise filler, reminiscent of pop Disney soundtrack music. That being said, some tracks manage to achieve mediocrity, but I suspect it's because I've only listened to them once.
The monotony of 21's slavish vocal delivery created a low threshold of enjoyment for me to fully enjoy this project. Most features are incredibly well placed and elevate each track, although even Young Thug couldn't save 'pop ur shit'. Where it shines it's in its great instrumentals, production, and diversity of tracks.
I just can't with 21's flow, which sometimes blends well with the instrumentation or overall atmosphere, but for others it's misplaced and a total mess.
So this is the album that, for every shitty song or mixing, people have an excuse for being experimental, right? It's fine, annoying half of the time, the other half barrable. You have to dig deep to find the listenable part of each song. Some, are easy to do, such as "sometimes", and others like, "to here knows when", it wasn't.
Although some parts feel repetitive and dull, it is still an incredibly transformative and atmospheric experience, able to create a unique mood and feeling, managing to create cohesion from start to finish on the project.
It's definitely worth listening.
