The Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness

'Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness' is quite possibly my favourite double-album of all time, and one that completely pushed the Smashing Pumpkins' sound to heights few in the alternative rock scene could ever hope to replicate. It is an absolute masterpiece, a groundbreaking achievement and an intensely powerful journey.

I often have a hard time sitting through albums as long as this unless the album in question can constantly deliver quality after quality while also keeping ideas fresh and exciting from start to finish. 'Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness' never, not even once, fails to absolutely blow me away.

The pumpkins mixed their heavy grunge-y style with more soft and sentimental ballads perfectly throughout this project and create a creative and truly unique experience, and one of the most visceral and breathtaking albums of the ‘90s. Absolute masterpiece.
