Weezer - Hurley

After a string of mediocre to terrible projects, Weezer went independent and signed to the Punk label Epitaph. That change doesn’t go unnoticed as here they sound very raw and energetic, while also retaining the catchiness Weezer albums are known for. The very unpolished aesthetic almost seems like a throwback to Pinkerton and Trainwrecks and Unspoken are two of the best songs they’ve written since that album.

However there are still major flaws sinking this project down. Too often does it sounds overtly messy and unrestrained and there about 3 songs that are borderline unlistenable. Still this is the first sign that things might be looking up for them, even with how rough this album may end up sounding.

Best Tracks: Trainwrecks; Unspoken; Hang On; Run Away; Memories

Worst Tracks: Where’s My Sex; Smart Girls; Time Flies
