For the first time has easily been one of the most anticipated releases of 2021 so far. Black Country, New Road have gained a lot of popularity in 2020 and 2021 and had everything marked out for their debut album. The hype, the inventive sound, this was going to be the shit. I'm new on the bandwagon myself. I essentially had a mental crisis trying to figure out if I liked Science Fair, and I eventually came to love it. But, that's the only song I heard before this album. I'm going into this ... read more

i'll still be poking around but i don't think i'm interested in posting reviews on here anymore, it feels like too much of a requirement here rather than a hobby because of the emphasis on likes/reception here rather than quality

if you want to keep updated with how I am, my discord is oakie#0813.

please go interact with/follow @rosacoolbeans as well, she's my best friend and she posts some pretty sweet stuff sometimes

again, I'll still be active ... read more

I can't say a lot for a good introduction, so I'll cut right to the chase - this album is overrated. Hell, the whole band is overrated. Nico? Not so much, but we'll talk about that later. I don't get the appeal of The Velvet Underground - I understand their influence, but I don't know how that makes the sound of the music any good. To me, TVU is the idea that doesn't work in the beginning that someone else (ahem, David Bowie, Nirvana, The Smiths or just fucking anybody that was influenced by ... read more

Before I begin this review, I would like to give a very big THANK YOU to the AOTY community for getting me to 200 followers! Going on this website nearly every day and reading reviews, interacting with music fans and writing my own stuff is so fun for me and has greatly motivated me to keep going in the direction of writing. I absolutely LOVE the reception and support my reviews have garnered and the fact that 200 (actually 203 by the time I'm writing this) people decided I am worth seeing more ... read more

QUICK NOTE: I will be speaking on the lyrics of this EP in this review. However, I am not Japanese, nor do I speak the language; I am going off of translations. If there are any misconceptions about the lyrics that you think I should know about, please do not hesitate to leave a reply and I will correct myself. Thank you for understanding.

ロンググッドバイ(translated as Longgoodbye) is an EP I have been procrastinating on listening to for a few weeks. Ever since @rosacoolbeans showed ... read more

The Dark Side of the Moon is one of the greatest examples of an album that works as a full album. Whenever you hear people talking about this thing, how many times do you hear about individual songs? Not very often, I would assume - at least, that's what I've experienced in my discussions about Pink Floyd. I've found that there aren't very many albums outside of the underground music world that have these kinds of discussions about full albums - Abbey Road, Nevermind, Marshall Mathers LP are ... read more

Hi there! I hope you are having an amazing, happy and healthy day today <3

I’m making a ‘Comfort album’ list which would be a go-to album to listen to when we are upset or having a hard time, as music is a source of happiness or comfort to many people. As we are facing such a hard time right now with the COVID-19 pandemic, I believe with this list, we can as a community gather as many albums in a list for anyone who may be looking for a certain album that puts them in a good mood, calms them down, or like I’ve stated before.. comforts them! If you would like to submit an album that does that effect for you, please list these 4 things, album name, artist, and a sentence as to WHY you love this album and WHY it’s such a comfort album for you. It could be because of the lyrics, how it makes you feel.. etc. You may explain it in either one sentence or however many sentences you want, it is your choice! BUT, If you do not have one, no worries then <3 Thank you for reading!
