The Bran Flakes - Help Me
100
waoh. plunderphonics masterpiece with absolute bangers all the way through. manages to form a coherent and consistent 'whole', while allowing each song to individually shine. the bran flakes' best work by a mile.

fav songs: help me, have you seen?, clap your hands, dream
Dutch Uncles - Out of Touch in the Wild
100
love love love this album. progressive pop that relishes in being clever. love songs based on greek mythology and chess terminology, self-love songs with atypical rhythms ... what's not to love.

fav songs: bellio, fester, flexxin
Dutch Uncles - True Entertainment
100
feels like someone telling you about situations that only they know the full context of. little windows into different lives, alongside their own specific relations and how they work with each other. does this better than any other album that i can think of.

fav songs: deep end, in salvia, dead letter
Field Music - Making a New World
100
very foundational album for me. discovered it just after its release in 2020 and it blew me away, leading me to look at more progressive and experimental albums. completely changed my music taste. still holds up after five years, as well; as an indulgent, self-assured piece that attempts to draw out the impact that world war one had on broader society.

fav songs: coffee or wine, only in a man's world, money is a memory
Field Music & The Nasuwt Riverside Band - Binding Time
100
absolutely fabulous exploration of 18th century labour history. despite covering a more tight subject matter than making a new world, it's clearly field music's most ambitious project and one that hits the mark in every single way. orchestral, grandiose, superb.

fav songs: two murders, londonderry, after hepburn's union
Heatwave - Central Heating
100
the first pure funk album i listened to. absolutely incredible. great vibes, good memories.

fav songs: the groove line, central heating, party poops
KNOWER - KNOWER FOREVER
100
yess. hit a chord i didn't know existed. indulgent and grandiose, but also personal and soft spoken. resonates with me on a subconscious level.

fav songs: the abyss, nightmare, it will get real
