Gal Costa

Short update as I listen to the wonderful rerelease by polysom:
Vinyl and this pressing make Gal come alive (even more) it´s a miracle how good this album sounds - a physical experience

There´s is too much fun listening to Gal Costa instead of analyzing all the details of this wonderful production.
So let´s hurry - great singer! - except for one song it´s a flawless record to me - very versatile and without compromising crazy sound ideas for a smoother mix.
Example 1: Nao identificiado - Starting with cheap Sci-fi sounds of a landing UFO to merge into a string driven soft funky ballad sung by a singer to melt the coldest hearts when suddenly some kind of SunRa clone throws atonal keyboard interventions into the flow until ending the song on torture screams straight from the Hammer Vault (what sounds strange on paper are stunningly beautiful 3:18 min) this song is followed by a kind of fast paced Brazilian comic-funk (Sebastiana)

Example2: Vou Recomencar - Starts with a fast Funk with an underlying fuzz-guitar that would be the proud peak of a Krautrock record - Gals voice is not bothered by this brew and reigns the mix relaxed and melodic suddenly a female scream (as if Betty Davis entered the mix) emerges and moans until the end. Like every song on this record it´s short and beautiful-(except for one song-this record should be a 100).

Did I mention that this record sounds great?

And in case doublez is asking: I preferred writing about this record instead of reviewing Godspeed´s latest. I love this band I really do but G_d´s pee adds nothing to their spectacular output which hasn´t been more exciting before. And as I like the band I did not want to drag the score down because I still think they deserve a lot more attention
