Why the hell did I not check this out before now? The best tracks on here are fantastic, and mostly, Brakence' sound is right up my alley. The production on here is really great, and more than anything I love the vocals on every song. There's a lot of emotion behind these tracks, even when the songs aren't particularly heavy emotionally. The vocal melodies really stick in my head, mainly the chorus from "5g". First two tracks I wasn't getting what I was expecting from a new Dorian Electra album, but it only took a few tracks before I was opping my head along to most of the tracks. I don't think this quite reaches the levels of Flamboyant, which for me is still the greatest work Electra has put out to date, nor do any song stand out as much as something like "F*** The World" off of 2020's "My ... read more
Starts off absolutely amazing with the first three tracks run. Opener is definitely a contender for song of the year for me. Unfortunately, I don't think the album reaches the same height again, even if the rest of the album is still good.
Very handely one of the best rock records of the past decade. What Will Toledo is able to accomplish here is truly remarkable. In 2011, Toledo released Twin Fantasy. That album is very much reliant on the youthful writing, totally encapsulating the feelings of uncertainty and dread that comes with being a late teen or young adult.
