Foals venture into a dreamier indie rock sound in their second effort, and while it doesn’t reach the energetic highs of their Debut, it’s still a very good album. A problem with this album is the mixing. Antidotes didn’t have fantastic mixing either but the sound of that album was quite straightforward and simple, so it didn’t matter. But when you’re trying to achieve a fleshed out, complex, and dreamier sound like in this album, the mixing is gonna have to be ... read more

Holy Money combines the harsh violence of Filth and Cop and the atmospheric tension of Greed, and it works very well for the most part. This album has a very minimalistic, industrial sound that works well in tracks like A Screw and Money Is Flesh #2 but falls flat in tracks like A Hanging and You Need Me. The album also doesn’t really pick up in heaviness until Track 4 “A Screw (Holy Money), the first 3 tracks are all very slow and boring. And as is traditional with early Swans most ... read more

Gorillaz’s debut album is extremely promising, but it has quite a couple of flaws to keep in mind. But let’s talk about the positives first, shall we?
The sound of this album is captivating. It has this swampy, foggy trip hop sound to it, which I really enjoy. The hip-hop influences on this album are very obvious, with most of the tracks having a really lo-fi kind of sound to it. Both Clint Eastwood and Rock the House have featured verses from Del the Funky Homosapien from Deltron ... read more

While not as exciting or groundbreaking as it sounded in 2012, The Money Store is still an exciting, weird, experimental, and overall it’s ages quite well. Most of my enjoyment of this album comes from just how energetic and fun it can be while also sounding angry and intimidating. This album just pumps me up, it’s almost impossible to stay still while listening to it, it just makes me wanna fucking smash something (in a good way)

This is my first time listening to a The 1975 album and I am confused, puzzled and intrigued all at the same time. Something tells me this is the worst possible jumping on point for this band. For something that is supposed to be their biggest and most ambitious statement it sure has a whole lot of nothing. A lot of these songs I’m just questioning what they were even going for. Seriously, were “Roadkill” and “Shiny Collar Bone” such profound and deep statements ... read more

:I don’t think I even need to explain why this album is awesome, it just simply is awesome. Jack and Meg white use simplicity and minimalism to create a kickass album with great straightforward Alternative Rock bangers, with a couple of slower and more melodic tunes along the way.
Faves: Black Math, The Air Near My Fingers, Seven Nation Army, The Hardest Button To Button, Little Acorns.

Fun, exciting, fast, energetic. Those are the word’s I’d used to describe Foals’ 2008 debut.
This was a really fun listen. I couldn’t stay on my seat for most of the album, the energy it radiates is contagious. However, it does definitely start to lose momentum after Two Steps Twice, which is a fantastic song. Lyrics on that song are absolutely meaningless but the buildup and climax of the song is absolutely euphoric, easily the big standout on the album, and should have ... read more

Fuck it. I’m not gonna pretend that I didn’t have a hell of a good time listening to this. This is just a solid, fun pop record. Brendon just has a natural charisma and the nonsensical lyrics just add to the charm.

Yup, this is still terrifying. But in a different way than Filth or Cop. Rather than building a scary, oppresive and loud soundscape, Greed focuses on building atmosphere. It’s quite an eerie, creepy album instead of just downright scary. That’s not a bad thing, but it leads to many songs being unfinished and quite forgettable. It’s a very minimalistic album, and very atmospheric. I just imagine a totally wrecked and abandoned city while listening to it. It works quite well, ... read more

i think i like the songs where she isn’t screaming like a fucking banshee over a boring “neoclassical” instrumental. and by that i mean i only like the first song.

I-I can’t
This is so devoid of variety, all of the songs literally sound the same. Angry high pitched man screaming over random guitar notes and blastbeat drumming for 11 minutes. There are no interesting riffs or melodies. It’s not even that heavy, it’s just annoying.
Faves: no
Least Faves: they all sounded the same lmao
