Ethel Cain - Preacher's Daughter
95
Well here it is. Armoured with a new crystal-clear production sound and a diversified sonic pallet, Hayden Anhedönia maps out her southern gothic fable on her debut full-length Ethel Cain LP - the 4-year labour-of-love further establishing and taking to new heights a sonic landscape that reaches the euphoric open-highway peaks and church-graveyard-soil tragedy her prior EPs promised in short-form. Lorde - Stoned At The Nail Salon

Is it low-key a 'Wild At Heart' cover? Yes, but it's nice.

He's done it again. As a big fan, I'm thoroughly impressed and moved by this album. Keaton's music is known for his sadness - but Monument, while at times heartbreaking, is so much more than just that - it feels fundamentally hopeful in a really touching way and like a breath of fresh air in his discography that should be cherished. Thank you Keaton.
Marika Hackman - Any Human Friend
75
On 'Any Human Friend', Marika Hackman fuses punchy indie rock with a spoonful of eery melody found more prominently in her previous work. It's a bold statement of an album, and solid enough, though it seems to lose some of its direction and originality towards the end.
Highlights - wanderlust, all night, send my love
Weaker spots - conventional ride, come undone
