Ok I was sleeping on the second disc on my first listen, this is a must listen from front to back.
slayr is genuinely my most listened to artist of 2026 in just a couple weeks of listening to this album, and all the added songs are beyond amazing. The production on the "throwaways" is on par if not better than the original album, and every song on here feels unique and necessary on the album. "Paint a Picture" is definitely my favorite song on here, but I don't even ... read more
I came into this album expecting something different for some reason, but I still had a great time. I had heard "Set in Stone" through a random YT recommendation a couple months ago, bookmarked it and promptly forgot about slayr's existence, so when I saw this rated so highly on here I got quite excited.
This album definitely has it's moments of weakness showing gaps in the production and delivery in a select few songs (most notably in 24/7), which wouldn't be hard to ... read more
"MUSIC" by Playboi Carti is overall lackluster. The beat selection is good for the most part, but carti does not do his due diligence on actually rapping. The features on this album are spectacular for the most part, with the most memorable of them being The Weeknd and Kendrick Lamar. Future and Uzi felt the most lackluster to me, as Future is asleep on all songs except for TRIM where he raps his ass off, and Uzi dropping a Dr.Seuss rhymescheme on JUMPIN.
On a happier note, RATHER LIE ... read more
Chromakopia is an absolute rollercoaster of an album. It oscillates between energetic and introspective, as if tyler is figuring out how he really feels. Masks are the main focal point of this album, and tyler battles with thoughts of children, death, father figures and expectations. Sonically this album is diverse and "all over the place", experimenting with past sounds off of "CHERRYBOMB", "Flowerboy" and "IGOR", adding a whole new level to them. ... read more
Honestly I was never a fan of ZUU, and I feel like this is what ZUU could've been. Loud bangers all the way through, with the exception of 2 songs, which are decent. Every feature delivers (maybe with the exception of Juicy J on COLE PIMP), especially the A$AP crew and Mike Dimes, who absolutely killed it. Denzel delivers some surprisingly catchy hooks and has an overall great performance on this album.
The only song I disliked was WISHLIST, because of the way Denzel was talking about ... read more
This album blows my mind in every way shape and form. Quadeca manages to perfect every style he's had since starting his music journey back in 2015, while delivering something new to the table in the form of "BEING YOURSELF" (which is just a wild song in it of itself, leaves me speechless). I usually give decently detailed reviews but this mixtape has left me speechless, the seamless blend of ideas, the quality of every song production and vocals wise, and don't get me ... read more
Is there anything original to say about this album at this point? It's the pinnacle of boom-bap and there's no song on here that feels worse than the others. All the songs maintain their own personality and flavor in their own right. I have nothing else to say, if you haven't heard this album yet, listen to it RIGHT FUCKIN NOW
This album is fucking insane. No other way to put it. Everything about it is so in your face while being all over the place, which was done extremely well by peggy. I was never interested in the experimental hip hop scene until I first heard of peggy, and since then I've had his shit on repeat. Danny Brown was amazing on this album too, delivering some really entertaining and enjoyable verses. I think this album will only get better on more relistens, and I can't wait for that to ... read more
It's safe to say Lupe doesn't get enough attention. This is an amazing conceptual album, and I feel like once I give this a relisten I'll enjoy it even more. Currently I stand between decent enjoyment and thorough amazement. Lupe lyrically killed it, with some amazing beats to go along with it. A big gripe that I have with this album is each songs length. Because of the low tempo laid back beats, 4+ minutes of being berated by lyricism gets a bit boring. This is probably because ... read more
I had shockingly high expectations for this album, and I came out of it feeling dissatisfied. Most of the songs are fine, but ruined by repetition. Of course this isn't uncommon in Q's tracks, but here it just feels unoriginal and glaringly an issue. Not all of the tracks have this problem, most notably "THank god 4 me", where it's done not only sparingly, but with changes to the beat/actually having different lyrics rather than a repeated phrase a couple morbillion ... read more
This is a Ketamine induced nightmare and I'm all for it. It's dumb fun, and that's the point. I was wrong to go into this in the morning, but damn am I ready to snort crack and eat a burrito with danny devito
The Off-Season has an upbeat vibe throughout the whole album, while still getting gritty from time to time. This album seems to miss a lot on the more contemporary sounding songs, while delivering heavily on the boom-bap type lyrical songs (I cant forget a m a r i though, that shit slaps). I personally found a lot of the songs getting boring because of repetitiveness i.e 100 mil or pride is the devil, and some of the autotune just sounds off at times, although I think thats just an acquired ... read more
EDIT: 80 -> 70; I have not been coming back to most of these songs as much as I was back when I first listened to it, and the bad songs just poke out like sore thumb more than ever
High highs and LOWW lows, this album is the epitome of 21 savage in my eyes. He can be clever, catchy and convey emotions on great beats, but he also falls flat on some of the worst songs I've heard this year (nhie and sneaky). American dream is an album that I am planning to buy on vinyl because of it ... read more
WE DON'T TRUST YOU could've been absolute greatness...if Future didn't fall asleep for half the album. The beats are great, the features are amazing, and sometimes future delivers great choruses and verses, but pretty occasionally at best. I can't see myself listening to this album in it's entirety again, as it was difficult to get through the first time from how bored I got. The Highs ARE great, but overall it's future's napping in the studio. Metro deserves better
Overall the album isn't great. It has decent highs and sleep inducing lows. Mac Miller has a tendency to fall flat in terms of tempo and flows, while oversexualizing everything to an uncomfortable degree in the worse songs, while having a captivating flow and amazingly emotional lyrics in the better songs, even when those songs have an upbeat tempo. The first 5 or so songs seem to have an overarching narrative, but then it seems like he repeats the things he's said in the last 5. This album is ... read more
Let me start this review off by saying I've never been a huge cudi fan, but man does this album hit all the wrong places. 99% of the songs are boring, repetitive and sometimes ear grating. HUMAN MADE and WIN OR LOSE are fine, they're nothing special but they "work", but the rest of the songs are so boring. It feels unreal that some of these songs are CONCEPTUALLY awful, rather than awful cus of delivery, mixing, etc. I hope Cudi returns to form soon, as this might be the beginning of ... read more
ericdoa delivers different styles amazingly on this album with catchy hooks and bouncy atmospheres, while also making some pop-rock infused hyperpop that really sticks with you. Personally I hated his last album, and this feels like a return to form while perfecting the "things with wings" style to make it sound less pop-y and more original. This was an enjoyable listen and I wouldn't mind more of this in the future. Most of the songs I will be coming back to regularly. Thank you for ... read more
Although it's hard not to appreciate DOOMs sheer influence on hip hop, I find this album to be more of a legacy than an album that I can enjoy today. The beats are made to be chaotic, sometimes working in DOOMs favor, but a decent bit of times I found myself encapsulated by a mess of sound basically. DOOM does a great job at keeping my attention in the "big hitters" of this album (Accordion, Meat Grinder, All Caps, and even Raid), but a lot of times it seems he reverts to a quick-fire ... read more
Edit 79 -> 80 -> 84 -> 87 The standout songs are so mf'ing good I can't stop listening to them, but the special recipes still take away heavily from the whole album. Damn I should stop editing this god damn rating
MM...FOOD has some great songs on it, which are sadly dragged down by skits at the end which are half the songs length, with a side helping of special recipes that are nothing but filler, practically being stories told while a beat is in the background, with DOOM not even ... read more
Denzel somehow delivers the same, if not better, energy live with a band. This man delivered in so many ways. The Band did so wonderfully and OH MY GOD THE PIANO RIFF ON X-WING, Endtroduction having the most badass evil mastermind sound to it and literally every other song just being amazing. I'd love to rate it higher but it's mostly songs from MMESYF and Covers (i can't bear to have 3 Denzel projects in a row be rated higher than 1999 by Joey Bada$$ so this ties)
