Muse Project #3 Absolution sees Muse (in my opinion) becoming into their own band with this release. Sadly, I think I am realizing that I am not the biggest fan of the lead singer's vocals, and it tends to damage my overall experience. While a step up from their previous two albums with better quality production and a tamer approach to the genre; the band counters these positives with unnecessary instrumental choices, most instrumentals sounding like they were produced for a commercial, and doubling down on the LIFE IS ONE GIANT CONSPIRACY motif. From what I understand, this is the standard fanfare going forward, and I just hope as I continue to delve through their discography things get more refined.
Better, but not great.
