Broken beats and vocals make this album a bit difficult to be appreciated but as soon as one takes the time to immerse himself into it, the beauty of it is revealed. A very adventurous and evocative album. An Exit is one of my favourites.
There are ways to make good use of retro-futuristic sounds. A good example is Kuedo. A bad one is Palmbomen. It's a pastiche of all the 70-80s synth sounds that you could possibly handle. 72/100 because I am such a sucker for these and because there are darker moments with distorted melodies/vocals that nod towards the early Animal Collective days and Big Blood...
I was utterly surprised by this band. So much, that I registered to write my review. An incredibly interesting mixture of 60s psych folk samples, heavy basses, arpeggios and tribal rhythms from a stand-up drummer. I would say that this is how Love would sound like in 2015. It's a difficult album with evocative songs full of details that one discovers after a few hearings.
